Donny race photo's.

I believe so, its a stroked B16, same thing. I will have to switch back if I want to race with CSCC next year.

You will find 99% of series state must retain factory option engine. One reason i havent put a b18 in my ef. The problem with b16b's is there easily stroked with factory parts and hard for series organisers to confirm. Will require displacement tests that most organisers i have found cant be bothered with.

Some great pics dude.. The one of both your cars going in to the pits is quality! Looks like a good day out!

Its not a problem to stroke to 1.8, 1.9 or 2l, as long as you enter the right class, I was in class A with the kswap 2.0, albeit illegally, Matt runs in class B with the stroked B16. I was pulled morning of the race and asked to run in Invitation class, which was good of them as they could have sent me home.

Unfortunately for Matt he was tarred with my brush, he was beating many of the 2l class A folk and was subject of two engine inspections, of course cleared of all doubt as he is racing legally.

Such a shame you got disqualified, ant thoughts on that your going to do now?

Some nice pics you got there :0

Dunx

Considering going back to B16 & some gearing for now Dunx, then if Im still racing later next year, take it up to 1.8. Most series only offer 15, 20 or 60 minute races, both too short or too long! With CSCC it seems a big grid is always there.

Mind changes daily of course :blinx:

Great photos Haitch! How come your not racing in the Vtec Challenge?

I did a couple last year, and I really enjoyed my first races, lots of reasons why I did not sign up again though, not in any particular order, in the last three years I think the average grid has only been 12 cars, some events only 8, I fancied a longer race, at the end of 15 or 20 minutes I'm just getting in to it and its over, the CSCC has 30 minute qualy and a 40 minute race, suits me better. The CSCC is its own club so you are not 'fitted in' round other series, last year we had to follow truck racing at Snett for example - rain and a greasy track!
Also I felt that with a bigger grid, 30 cars! and surrounded by more experienced racers I may (or may not!) learn more and faster, the VTC was made up of people like myself, trackday people, sure you are always going to get a race, but I find with the bigger grid it is a lot more fun, slower cars can help or hinder, during the 40 minutes, and as mentioned the pit stop adds to the mayhem! Pace wise there is nothing in it, some of them are quicker than me anyway.

Its disappointing that the VTC has not taken off in my eyes, thousands of Honda cars on these forums yet most do not even want to do trackdays let alone race, I really appreciate money is a big factor, lucky to be able to do it myself, even then I only make half the events, but still would have expected to see more on the grid. Hondas on Track should be able to fill an open pit day with ease but they cant, and probably never will. When I speak to other drivers at events, they see the VTC more as a trackday event, and will not entertain it.
The race at Donny had it all, I was constantly on the attack or defending for 40 minutes, at one point I was in 3rd for a few laps, 1st when I pitted due to the safety car, then I had to wait in the pits for all the cars to pass, which left me near the back again, battled back through, I went off just after the rise to the back straight just before the end, lucky to save it, finished 5th from 32, with a best of 1:22.045 :D

Sounds like so much fun. How do you manage to keep the tyres going for 40mins? Really got the itch to just get it done!

Depends on the weather & track to how you set them, but usually if I have two helpers in the pit lane, one will help me with the harness, while the other lets out maybe 2-3 seconds of air on the fronts, then if you do find yourself in space for a lap or two try and pick your lines better, this has been my method so far. Although at Donny I had only one helper so the tyres got left, it worked out ok but it was cooler. I run Kumho V70 in hard on the front and A048 medium on the rear, the Kumhos are very good over 40 minutes, for me anyway!

If you get the slightest chance to race, get it done, you do not need 300bhp to do it either, its a massive rush :D

Been working out costs to get the car track legal and me licenced. Looking over 2k ATM. I'll get the cage first, then I know for sure there's no going back lol

The initial car prep and safety gear is the big hit, after that its just tyres & event money mostly, I would say you will need approximately 2.5k & that's on a 'track ready' car, this would include all your race suit, license, cage, safety gear etc.

Yeah my cars pretty track spec as it is. I'm not sure there are many mods I can do other than extreme weight saving.
I'll weigh up my options whilst I save for the cage + install.

Forget any mods, its all about the weight. Mines still a fatty, need to lose the heater matrix, oem steering wheel/bag, bootlock, and handbrake assembly to name a few!

Coolio, I'll find out what I can strip out of it once the cage is in.

Best to do it before the cage, with a mini grinder, all the inside panelling sides & roof etc.

Hmm okay. I'll save up for it then once its defo a go then I'll get the grinder out!
