just a question regarding the differences between the ek4's and ek9's gearbox. i know that they both share the same ratios. my box comes with LSD. is this the same unit as that found the the ek9 and is it possible to create an ek9 spec'd gearbox using it's dual synchros, bearings, etc?

ok the guide has definitely been able my question with regards to the LSD. i'm still unsure about whether the dual synchros or bearings could be used in the ek4 S4C LSD box. thanks for the help.

Hmmm, maybe someone could post up all the complete transmission numbers on the actual gearbox for each car, unless they're all different even on the same car...

Yes, but theres more numbers than just S80, S4C etc etc... Are the following numbers the same on all same gearboxes? eg. S80******, S4C******:nice:

oh, i see what you mean now, its probably like the vin, it may tell you where the trans was made, what country it was sold in , what year etc... it would be nice to know though :)

the boxs are actually different.

the sir and type r have different sized diff's this means even though look the same you could not swap one diff to the other which then means the final drives are diff and the shafts differ. the bearings are oversized and this last part not 100% but think there are two sincrows per gear on type r but not sure on this part

everything else im 100% on cos i tried swaping bits ha ha

hmm i see... Isn't there a way to tell the difference between the extra numbers on the gearbox? S4C is on EK4 EK9 EK1 etc...

Speaking about transmissions, I just realised my DC2 has a 4.785 FD as 2nd gear ends at 97kmph @ 8600rpm. AUDM models are weird, it has OBD1 ECU with 96spec headers and 98spec Tranny. lol...
