Civic EG6 SIR2 overhaul.

Been at the unit every night after work this week cracking on, still plenty to do but getting there.

Front all complete just brake fluid but couldn't help sticking a wheel on to make myself feel better ha. Whole car needs a good clean and polish.

My modified Cusco brake stopper

DSC06329_zps35c61da3.jpg

Stripped the rear brakes down and gave them a good clean, calliper pins cleaned, greased and put back, piston checked on the calliper which is still looking like new so reassembled that with some fresh brake fluid and freshened up the disc.

Not much of an update as I have been struggling with the lack of motivation again.................

but I did pull my finger out Saturday and got some fresh brake fluid and gearbox oil, full check over the car and took it for its first test drive of 2013 :D :D will also be a year on the 11th of this month the car last hit the road or was used eeeek time has seriously flown by :(

Anyway a few snaps of the civic enjoying the sunshine although covered in a layer of dust !!

and back in for some work
DSC06465_zps157e92e4.jpg

First drive was good, everything as it should be, loving the new flywheel and the less rotating weight from the shaved crank pulley and removed powersteering, very snappy indeed and she still pops and bangs on the overrun like a good'un :D

Little busy this weekend with the car, got a few jobs out of the way like removing the rest of the sound deadening and seam sealer, brackets gone, heater matrix and all that crap gone. Been sat on the sofa with a beer today while watching touring cars with the wiring loom as I have been de pinning all unnecessary wiring from the inside of the car and then loom tape to keep it all tidy!

Nearly ready for sanding

DSC06482_zps2171b0d7.jpg

Some more crap removed. Ariel, more wiring etc..
DSC06483_zps0a88cb7c.jpg

Loom all sorted out :) All unpinned and removed properly. Got a bag full of cable that's not needed, a good KG I reckon!!
DSC06484_zps3030595e.jpg

Started on the harness bar, and in the process of shaping up the gussets to add a bit of triangulation for the chassis and to make sure the bar aint moving when the harnesses are attached!
DSC06485_zpsf85d5047.jpg

Hopefully get started on preparing the inside for paint this week once the bar is all welded in and bit of stitch welding here and there and get some paint on the go at the weekend :) enjoying this all over again now especially the wiring side :)

Gussets made up just need my welding man to be free to weld the bloody thing

DSC06491_zpseeb4dab3.jpg

DSC06492_zps192b0c14.jpg

Made a start on masking up, just need to white spirit the floor to remove all the tar crap, bit of sanding here and there and get some primer on the go :)

Mocal 13 row oil cooler arrived today thanks to Lance :) Shall be fitting this along with my oil temp, oil pressure gauges and aftermarket 15psi oil pressure sensor wired up to a separate warning light so I can ditch the stock sensor..

DSC06507_zps0772b036.jpg

Harness bar all welded in thanks to my Brother inlaw :) and a bit of etch primer to keep the rust at bay

DSC06508_zps9ff32f5c.jpg

DSC06509_zps69b3d73b.jpg

Just a little more prep to do then I can get some paint in there :) All this heat has been slowing me down as the unit is a good 10c hotter than it is outside so more beer is drunk then actual work being done!!!! oops....

Been so slack with the car recently as the weather has been so nice I have been off enjoying that and getting sidetracked... But im getting fed up of looking at this when I go up the unit so a couple nights this week after work I have been doing the dreaded preparing and sanding, just need to go round the interior one more time to pick up anything I might have missed, mask up everything then its time for primer Whoop whoop argh....

Getting a good few inches of dust and crap now, looking more like a barn find every week

DSC06676_zps12b4ed26.jpg

Just a bit of wiring for the FIA switch, gauges etc.. to be sorted before the stripped down dash goes in, should be nicely under that 900kg mark now ;)

Oil cooler mounted to its new home, just need to pop it on the car and connect up the lines :)

DSC06677_zpscd290c4e.jpg

DSC06678_zps00bdfc95.jpg

Not much of an update but wiring is all set and ready for the dash to be fitted once again, oil cooler, oil temp, oil pressure and water temp sensors plus oil pressure warning light and wiring is all fitted and ready for the gauges, fresh oil and filter along with fresh coolant then fired the car up, all well there :) had a little problem with the main water tube going across the back of the block but that's all sorted now, error on my part that was!! Only thing holding me up has been some parts for the battery relocation, rain light and my switch panel but that turned up today so il get busy making that up :)

DSC06706_zps28e8bf18.jpg

New set of DS3000 pads to order next and book it in for GEO and hopefully a trackday if the weather plays ball, will also be getting the car professionally detailed as it needs it after sitting like it has for the past year.

Will update with more pics soon!

My switch panel is 90% complete just need a reasonably sized light for my oil pressure light to fill the gap above the FIA switch and not forgetting the labels too. Bitch to take a pic of as its so shiny!
DSC06719_zps5e8f092a.jpg

Keep forgetting to take pics of the car but its getting there now, so will take some when im next at the workshop :)

Well the dash is back in, nearly all done just the clocks to sort out.

So all behind the dash prepared for the dash and new switch panel

Tidied all the wiring at the back and secured it all where necessary
DSC06726_zpsfd657765.jpg

Fitted the cut off switch pull cable in the scuttle panel, bit of pain to remove as all the clips were very brittle so got some new clips on order at Honda

A few hours spent making up all the wiring and the switch panel was fitted. Will secure the plate with a helping hand as its bit tricky trying to get it spot on by yourself.

I kick myself everyday about it as it was a very clean JDM car when i got it and had the intentions of leaving this one alone but that went out the window :( as you say a shame.

Not much of an update but been getting the car MOT worthy for the new year as I would like it back on the road to hit some shows etc. this year.
*
Finally got the car washed and even applied some polish to her this weekend, well its was wet and windy out so what better to do.

Finally got round to finishing off my switch panel with its labels, overall fairly happy with it and it functions which is the main thing. Also fitted a new washer pump as mine decided to just not work anymore so got that done and fitted some new spark plugs.

Excellent work!! love the custom switch and warning light layout :)

Attention to detail and OCDness is 100% fair play

Mate this is one of the best builds I've seen, seriously, top notch work :) if it had a k20 I'd have no words haha. Hats off to you sir!
