my ek9 has been parked up the last four months. drove it into the shed. charged the battery last nite but today would not start will turn over alright. b4 I tried to start it I took out the plugs and put a drop of all down into each cylinder and turned it over with out the plugs. it was after this that I then tried to start it with no success.. I opened the top of the fuel filter to make sure the fuel pump was pumping and it is.
all I can do 2m is check for spark. any think else anyone can think off

what did you drop into your engine when you took the spark plugs out, antimatter?

I bet the dizzy coil is blown, always disconnect the dizzy plug when cranking the engine over with leads/spark plugs out of cylinders.

wow, never knew that Vtec6000.

I will def remember this one.

Funny in a way, why would a designer at honda ever think about someone trying to start an engine without any plugs being hooked up. I guess the leads just shorted everything out.

I found this out the hard way^^ The dizzy coil in these are very temperamental

I reckon it's if they're left dangling away from the engine and next to each other, they'd possibly arc to each other and short then, rather than the earthed engine/chassis

yes. i agree...easier to short a dizzy that way for sure.

either way, its still a new dizzy because of a few drops of antimatter.

I just put a bit of engine oil down to lube her b4 I started it. I turned it over a couple of times then with the plugs out.

I had them in such a way as not to touch anything. how can I check the dizzy first. and to make sure its getting power.

cheers.

Honda's are renouned for Dizzy problems especially if your's is a 96 spec, and i assume the dizzy hasnt been changed in it's time before? try replacing the dizzy, as this has happened to me twice both being the distributor

why did you not just try starting car when you put battery in without taking out plugs etc? my dc2 sat for ages i.e 4 months or more and threw in battery and away it went

that's what I should of done. but I thought it be good to put a drop off oil into the cylinders to reduce where on start up as no oil been up around it in a long time.

I can't get my car to start. strongly think its my coil so I have it out in my hand. testing it with a multi meter. I have it set to the lowest setting to read ohms but I can't get any reading from any of the terminals.

I have tested the coil the way you have shown above. between A and B I'm getting 0.8 ohms and between A and the sec winding I'm getting 11.4k ohms

I taught you were getting no readings? The secondary winding is on the limit of what they specify acceptable...

there a little out but do you think its enough to stop it starting or do you think its another problem.
