getting some new disc's for my ek4 and just wondering if anyone can recommend a good brake pad for them as i've no experience in anthing other than oem. car is used maily on weekends for the odd stage and spirited drive and maybe a few track days later in the end of summer. thanks in advance.

ok, so i was sort of looking a bit more info such as experience with them and cost etc... cheers.

id state your budget, stops people recommening pads out of your budget then as tonnes out there

well i've only looked at ebc pads and they're 70 but i'd spend around and over 100 if i knew the pads where better. also can you only get ebc greenstuff's for a vti? i wanted to try the redstuff's as thats what my bro uses and he says they're good!

Im using Red stuff and personally have found them just fine even on track. Reasonable grip from cold too and low dust. And the price isnt that bad. Although you can get better pads depending on how much your willing to pay out.

Ive heard very good things on the CL pads which i will most probably be trying next and they come in around £115 for the fronts. StevenEK9 rates them highly too.

gonna go with the greenstuff pads as i figure they will be a good reference for future pads and i'm stuck for money after having to buy a motherboard for my laptop. :nono: o the joys of forgetting to zip up your laptop bag! :angry2:

vttr grand sport pads one of the most underrated pads stress tested these pads so far 4 trackdays and 4 months 3 weeks and 12hours on them:)) of daily driving and they are just about ready to be changed, great stopping power to for 85euro

DO NOT USE EBC PADS!!

I bought a brand new set of EBC RedStuff pads, fitted them to my dc2 and during the 1st trackday after one lap they had turned into to sh*te. After the trackday I took the pads out, they were completely glazed and actually cracked right through! All of the people I talk to have had similar experiences and one guy with greenstuff said they crumbled into pieces! I through them straight into the bin and would never touch their stuff again

I then bought a set of Ferodo DS2500's and they are amazing, work fine from cold on the road and on the track they never failed me, providing a strong pedal with alot of abuse braking from 125mph to 40mph and then down another straight and same again mixed with another few corners from 100mph to 60ish and so on so a fair amount of work. They have done a few trackdays since then, still have plenty of pad left and have not broken down:nice:

Other pads that also seem to be very good on and off the track are the higher spec Mintex pads, Dixel pads, spoon and so on.

i had mintex pads and 3g disks on my old integra, for bout 40-50 quid for a set of pads i was very happy!!!!

i've only got a vti, so i'm finding it hard to get a decent pad as all the ones i hear about are only made for ek9/dc2 etc.

I would steer well clear of EBC pads man.

I run redstuff the same as Dan (we had a few discussions about these at the 'ring), whilst he quite likes them, I wouldn't say they're a great pad at all. OK is about the highest rating I'd give them. If you want a great pad (and IMO it's worth spending a little more) go for CL's or Dixcel's.

If your going to go for EBC pads. Go Yellow stuff minimum. Theyre good!

AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH, right tried to use the dixel site to get prices and an idea of what they're like and it was a disaster and everything went into symbols and chinese. what are CL's for those that dont know (ie. me!)

cheers, :thanks:. now im getting somewhere. just need to get some prices off some vendors and i'll be sorted. :nice:
