hi guys, as per title, I am finding it such a difficult decision. I am about to buy some pistons and rods but I don't know weather to go hi comp or low comp for turbo obvs. I want to use the car mainly got trackdays and maby some sprint events but I don't know what I would benefit more from. obviously turboing would give me more power and torque but I would like to keep it n/a and have the sound + revvs. what do you guys think would suit me best for my applications? and if I was to build my b18c with high comp internals what max figures should I be aiming for ?

also if you have an n/a build what are your figures ?

any help would be much appreciated thanks

My hi comp is running approx 200whp and there is more in there with a better exhaust system and different intake... Maybe ITBS...

You will get more power from boost but I love n/a revving the nuts off it! Boost doesn't do that for me.

Dont buy piston and rod just get a decent turbo set up and run safe boost you'll see 250-300hp easy. Unless you need to re build your engine still go turbo Lol

N/A tuning is expensive. Turbos is the best bang for your buck :nice:

that's what I love! and for me that's what Hondas should be like, what engine is yours? and what is done to it ? comp ratio ect?

I have thought about it but I think that would be a waste of a perfectly good b18c. its already about 11:1 I think? so wouldn't be able to run too much boost. either way I wanna build the engine, im just in a dilemma as to which path I should take :/

It's a difficult one.... Check my build out, there is a complete spec list.

I love the quick revving and screaming from mine boost muffles it and yes they are quick but it's just not right... Maybe supercharge it?

how do I find your build?

ye I love it especially with some harsh cams! im not a fan of superchargers really unless there on an American v8!

It is really gonna come down to your personal preference but definitely best bang for your buck is to go turbo...

ok, well what do you think would be best for circuit raceing ? I think too much power would be poor for cornering

That's a decision you have to make. A good 250-300 with sticky rubber will still perform very well. And as long as you manage the throttle it will be fine!

It's got to be down to what you want.

Extreme end of the spectrum, F1 has been n/a, turbo, n/a, turbo hybrids so there is no right or wrong way.

ye I know :/ just looking through your thread looks mental! makes me kind of want to stay na if I can do that. what power was it at the engine ? and what torque? I would be happy with 250 at the engine I think

250bhp from a b18c is no easy task, you'll want some deep pockets. Realistically you will need to sleeve the block to increase displacement.

mmm :/ what do you think is more realistic ?

iirc mine is approx 235 at the fly... And that's cost a fair amount already.

To release another maybe 10-15 I need to spend the best part of 2.5-3k.

Engine cost me about 8k all in... So far anyway...

ahh right, maby I should go for turbo then if I want to be more competitive. shame really coz I would rather keep it n/a if the gains were better. thanks for your help guys im now 70/30 sure I think I will go turbo but will probably change my mind hah

I understand where you coming form. Turbo'in is taken away from the feeling of the B series but have a spin in a boosted civic and you wont look back.

Could always sell the B18c and fling in a C4 boost that and still have cash left to spend on petrol cos you dont want to stop driving it.

This man speaks sense!

Or just leave it alone and keep it n/a.... But now I am talking ballacks who the hell would leave there car bog standard! Lol :p

I'll let you know what I think end of month.
B16b turbo being built this week. Mapped last week of the month.
