What can i do to my civic 1998 to stop the back of the car from sliding out at meduim speed bends. I know one main problem is that the back of the car is higher then the front. but when i get that leveled what else can i do? coilovers? control arms? etc

Do you lift off through the corners ? A good way to keep it planted is to keep the gas apllied through the corner. Also have you got good tyres on the rear ? My old car when i bought it had **** tyres on the rear and the back end was out all the time.

Coilovers and Anti roll bars will help but there is no point if you have budget tyres.

How many miles has your suspension setup done ? If its close to 100k the dampers could be shot or a bush knackered these would both contribute to a livley back end.

Balanced throttle in the corner

I also think it could be the tyres, how is the tyre conditions?

ive camber arms on my 9, it helps keep it planted!! good job so it is!!

yeah the car does lift in the corners. and the suspension are stock, done around 80k miles. I have 4 brand new Toyo Proxies 4 tyres with 15" alloys 195/50/15

wel agen id say suspension an tyres but sounds ok really, mine is a handle full at points just gotta hold her between the point of under and oversteer, but as said just don't lift off half round round as bad things WILL happen lol

i try so hard to get my car to slide abit, but without fail everytime it just understeers abit, catches then pulls through the bend.

think its time for a diff lol.

I think am going to have to practice in a big car park with balancing the throtle. and then again with no trottle and get to know the car before i go doing it on road and spin out

check your rear trailing arm bushes. if they are warn they unsettle the back end a bit.

100% lift off over steer can be deadly i wudn't ever try it m8 :secret: wel on road neway plus if u get it u've taken corner too fast slow in wel fast as pos widout sliding or lockin up then smooth power all the way out sumtimes im a bit too aggressive by powering on too early but the dif just kickin in for a split second! but mine is skitty on the limits so beware i dnt really get much understeer a split second b4 it wud it slides a tyres width at back end then u hav2 slightly straighten up catch it then hard on power out of corner but its gripped and throwen me the other way almost like a tank slapper before :drive: lol so caution!!

dont lift off the throttle in the bends, adjust your driving, and this will not happen.

secondly, check the condition of your bushes and get some new ones and alignment done if thee shot.

Don't try it in a big car park as it could get you into trouble. If you really want to test your car's limit and in a safe and legal environment why not go to North Weald air field?

Hondas on track are holding another air field session in October:

Is it a 1.4 civic with no rear anti roll bar? If you add a anti-roll bar to the rear of the car it will tighten your rear end up and help reduce it stepping out

Do you know where i could but a anti roll bar from?

this makes alot more sense now... ek9 anti roll bars will transform the handling!!

I would not advise putting a rollbar in without a subframe brace, could tear your subframe as the subframe in 1.4's is not designed to handle arb's.

I have new lca's, poly trail arm bushes and coilover's, I get oversteer when i want it for a bit of fun :). Car is handling great at the minute for an ej9 :nice:

Also, Getting the allignment done if it hasn't been done in a while makes quite a difference.

all i have is eibach lowering springs on my ej9, and the rest of the set up is on 90k miles. and it performs like a beauti. it felt great on the nurburgring

A anti-roll bar off a vti civic wont tear your subframe. Only with large size one's a brace would really be needed. All the mounting points are present on the subframe as the chassis is same as vti.

Rear wishbone bushes are very common to go on all civics... I failed the NCT on mine recently on my ek4... Check if they're cracked, if so that would cause the back to move alot almost regardless of suspension set up...

Big jod replacing them yourself though as you need to take most of the rear suspension out to get the trailing arms out... The bushes themselves are cheap enough but the cost of labour in a garage is ridiculous... I was qouted €400

Good look anyway :D
