Hi im pretty stuck with what turbo to put on my b18c4 engine. ama put that engine in a ek4 bcoz its lighter. but all i realy want is a quick civic that i can put power down wid out spinning all over the place. im wanting to use the car for everyday driving put when i want power i want a quick turbo spool so am checking out a Garrett GT25r for my project. and giving me roughly about 330 bhp with all my engine set ups. can any1 tell me if im better of with the Garrett GT25r, Garrett GT28r or a Garrett GT30r but am after power, reliability a quick turbo spool say from arownd abt 3500rpm and all the way to 9000rpm. i dont mind even having abt 400 bhp but i just want the turbo to kick in at 3500rpm. ??? i realy wanna chew up them evos and subarus all day long. i love redlining hearing that beast VTEC screaming!!

from what ive read i think maybe the gt28r turbo is best for you. will you be lowering the compression?? what are you willing to do to the car. i know blinx on here has a gt3071r turbo with oem components, but he's using pr2 pistons to lower comperssion. he has made 333whp which is savage. Are you goingto change internals or keep it stock?? i guess you can use all 3 turbos you named but lower boost as the spec goes up. From what i have gathered on here youl will achieve you goal with the gt28r turbo on standard internals. but for longevity lower the compression a bit. hope this helps but if not, they will be much much more experienced turbo fanatics on to give you more informative advice

if you want 400bhp forget about the other turbos except the gt30r. the gt25r and gt28r wont be able for that. you need to set a goal and build around that mate

im gunna change all internals. my m8 has a ek9 and turbo'd it to 470bhp. hes eaten rs4's and even a 350 spider but he lost to another lad with an evo9 only 400bhp cos my mates turbo tuck the piss to kick in. and still when it did fully he where out of road lol! now i just reli like to kick my m8z ass lol! but deffintly gunna change all internals. relisticly im looking for abt 350bhp but i dont want lag. my m8 tells me to go for the gt2560r which it aint all big but hes say cos its only a 1.8 vti it will push 330bhp. so im not sure m8 im in 2 minds. ive check on few people on youtube wit the gt30r turbo and dey spinning. im not a rich bloke to get new tires all da tym lol. my main priority is no lag. thats a nice civic u got der m8 :)

ok sorry i forgot its 1.8. i dunno i think the gt25 might be a bit small still. im not too sure mate to be honest. im sure blinx or ek9turbo will give you real advice. i think maybe the gt28r with forged rods and pistons will give you what you want

i wud love to put a gt28r turbo on it but my m8 he knows alot abt cars and he advised me to put a gt2560r turbo on but hes got a punto gt with a gt2560r and hes pushing 300 bhp but the thing with his is that he dunt know much about turbo hondas. i just wanted sum1 else with experience of honda to help me but yeh ill take ur advise and go for a gt28r cos it is a 1.8. the thing is with me is i redline the **** out of VTEC and dont wanna blow up my internals with a big turbo and have any lag at all. hate lag lol!

well i had a gt28r turbo and blinx9900 told me that it was only good for 350whp max, thats with turbo running the turbo at a safe max psi. my car is a b16a. maybe its different for 1.8, youll spool quicker anyway, and blinx9900 told me that for a b16a it hit full boost at 3500rmp.ya i think your better off waiting for blinx9900, ek9turbo ans there is a few more turbo gods on here that can answer everything u need to know.
sorry i cant be more help

Have you though about supercharge your B18 instead of turbo?

i did but turbo is the best way too add power. besides superchargers aint good on high rev cars. i was actualy thinkin of adding a small supercharger and a large turbo but its too costly or even a 2 turbos but den ill have a blown engine cos i knw it wont last with me at the wheels. :)

thats what VTEC is all about. redlining!! :D

eh nah a dont think it is, vtec is a change over in power when you hit a certain rev not about takin it to the redline and causing your engine definite damage! Al tel you now mate if you get a turbo and redline it all day then bye bye B18! :nono:

To add a supercharger and a turbo isnt a easy job at all. There is a lot more to it than just sticking them on.

You are best off with the right sized turbo for your application. Try posting up on Honda tech if you want advice on the right sized turbo as it still doesnt seem like you have the answer you was looking for.

Good luck

Gt28rs will hold power till 8000rpm, if u want power until 9000 get the gt3076r, on my b16 it starts spooling by 3200rpm and full boost comes quick and it holds power to 9k, 380bhp at 12psi :)

hey Blinx, what els are you running on your B18c?

i want to stroke out my B16b with JDM P73 pistions and a 2 layer gasket, giving a 11.5 comp. ratio then run a turbo of some sort, preferbably one that spools early like you say, i checked out the gt3076r its a bit expencive but i dont mind spending a bit of money 5 large max, just wondering what els to do im thinking bit bigger injectors (400 to 500cc) a b18c5 fuel pump. not realy much els i can do - aming for 250 to 300 KW

please let me know your thoughts
