Hi, everyone.

Please give me some advice about the B16b or b18cr?

I just bought ek4, now was upset that which one I have to choose.
Some friends told me b16b is more enjoyable, but the others was told me that if u choose b16b, lastly u will also upgrade to b18cr cause that was more powerful than b16b.

Of course I know that b18cr is more powerful, but based on yours opinion
So, Which one should I choose?
Thanks.

B18cr is faster obviously,
B16b feels a lot smoother though, hard to explain but it does and feels a lot nicer up the revs.
But b18 is faster.
If I had a choice I'd go b18 for the power.

if take the honda dc2 halfcut, all the engine bay part and lower part(absorber, lower arm) can fit to ek4 ?

thanks.

Yes lad I already started up a thread abiut this topic. Most people would say b18c but I have a b16b Ek9 and it is loads of fun :nice:

I wish I'd kept my B16B it was rock solid!

I expect most will echo my feelings. (Those that have had engine issues)

B16B price is almost the same price as a B18CR. I was in the same shoes as you and I went for a B16B, never looked back

In terms of fun or performance I'd choose a B18C but a B16B is a bit more reliable. Not that a B18C is bad in those terms, it's just that a B16B seems to do a bit better.

Well i had a topic as well to go either for ek9 or dc2 typer r. I did own a dc2 r n can say they r fast cars n fun to drive. Defo b18cr

Personally I find the B16B quick enough for fun driving and I prefer the revvy nature (not that B18 would not be revvy but B16B is certainly more so)

I would say it all comes down to money, if you want to keep it standard then B16B but if at the end of the day you want power you will need to spend more to make the B16B the same power as a B18C, my opinion why not start off with bigger displacement and power. I would say they are both as reliable as each other

ive owned a dc2 and now own a ek9

the b16b has more character for sure and its always good to be the underdog, dont be a bhp whore lol

what he said. i prefer my b16b any day

Good choice! :nice:

Haha yeah :)

As said, it's more revvy and supposedly the most aggressive vtec engine. One of my mates that owned a dc2 for nearly a year a couple of years back, sat in my lil b16b converted civic and when the crossover came in, his reaction was priceless. Hondas are not fast cars but the crossover and revs defo give you a different feel. Make sure you get an LSD gearbox too
