hello guys i was wondering at what point is it safe to bore a b16b block?? 82 -83mm or even more??

I would never bore any of the b series motors over 81.5, if you want more capacity you need to sleeve the block

There is a very good Darton sleeved b18 block on eBay, a true 2.0L

Unless you know the company who sleeved it, I wouldn't buy it. The tolerances for darton sleeves are very small and need to put in properly or they will drop.

Max I'd bore would be 81.5mm as others have said. However with sleeving you can go to 85mm, maybe more but the thickness between cylinders is very small.

Think he's mean's its on Ebay but done by R-motion. (doesn't mean R-motion did it themselves though), they could of got a machine company they know to do it as the machinery is pretty dammmn expensive lol

Yeah I suppose so... half the time people just put stuff for the sake of it lol.

Yeah I suppose you never know who made it, it is actually r-motion selling it but it's been on there a long time so I wouldn't trust it so much

When I seen the title of this I thought no f**king way is the B16B boring! lol

But now I see, I would do what Rich says! :)

Yeah, do what I and David Cameron say. "We're stronger together, don't leave us Scotland. We want your oil and Haggis". j/k :p

thx for the info guys!! i would sleeve it if it was a reasonable price but it will cost around 4k euro to buy and put on the darton sleeves for example so it wouldnt worth it

Eh 4k? I'm sure I paid like £550 for Darton Mid sleeves. Machining cost me close to the price of the sleeves as well If my memory serves me correct..

Weres the best place to get a block sleeved in the UK. There isn't anywere on the isle of man that can do it. Im trying to weigh up b20 or sleeved b18.

Imo, the US lol - However the guys who sleeved by b16b did a great job, no problem with it in the last year or so. If you want I can get you their name/number :nice:

Best sleeve the B18 mate. It`s a serious block compared to that of a b20.

I'm looking for a B16B empty bottom !

Even a broken engine will do : I'm planning to have it re-sleeved
with Darton MID sleeves and bored at 84.5mm !

So, if you have one without crank, rods, pistons even with damaged sleeves...

Let me know !

Thanks,

Regis.
