Ej9 B16A2 conversion
Hi I have an ej9 which has a full ek4 conversion, I have been offered B18C type r cams but was wondering would there be much of a point installing them without an Ecu (P28 etc). I’ve also sourced an ek9 ecu and was wondering would the cams and ek9 ecu paired make much of a difference.
Thanks

I ran B18C cams in my B16A2 on a standard ECU for many years, didn't have any issues. Obviously I wasn't limiter bashing every day, but I did push it. You will feel some gain in vtec, but nowhere near a much once you have the P28 ECU remapped properly. With an EK9 ECU, I'd imagine it would pull a lot harder in vtec. But you need to be careful as this will raise the rev limit and your B16A2 only has duel valve springs on one side (mine did anyway), cant remember which side, so there is a risk of valve float on that single side. But since you have the cams, it would be a good idea to get the valve springs and retainers to suit.

Agree with what gwailo said above ^

You may also want to consider upgrading your spring and retainers because of the limiter raise, you don't want anything flying out.

I'm running a skunk2 stage 3 cams on a stock B16A at the moment and it's brutal, I still need to upgrade springs and retainers as I have a raised rev limiter, I wouldn't want to take it past 9k without upgrading them though.

Good luck
