ok guys i bought the asr brace and arb combo a while back with the understanding from the seller all i needed was longer lca bolts for this to fit but not long recieved the parts to get it fitted and it clearly doesnt fit after being told it does .

i had tried a few times and with alot of help from forum members on here ijwhiteman and ramboteamjon just to mention a few .

anyways the only thing left to do was get my mates jordan down and get it tried on there and het presto it fits the ek4 and certainly doesnt fit the ek9 .

so this post is for you guys out there that are told it fits an ek9 there clearly dont .

here are pics of it up against my 9 and you can clearly see none of the holes line up at all . no matter what you do this brace will never fit an ek9 .

and from looking into it fitted to the ek4 you it doesnt look like the oem arb will fit . to me it looks like you have to fit either an ek9 arb or the asr arb .

anyways hope this helps some folk out and time for me to contact the seller to sort it out for refund .

John

So what your trying to say buddy is that you cant fit one of these braces to an EK9? DO they not make EK9 specific ones?

Nice write up John and thanks for all the info! Totally gutted this wont fit an ek9! :( I tried also and it wouldnt fit! I tried to get a refund from accessory zone but was told it had small marks on it and wouldnt take it back! :( :( So thats why its for sale on the forum! was well looking forward to fitting this but we were well mis-informed! :( raging!

I contacted ASR straight and they dont make a specific one for an EK9 as the subframe is already re-inforced, therefore a subframe brace on an EK9 would only be for looks which is what me and Jock9 wanted! :(

Dam, well thanks for this thread as i was thinking of buying one in not so distant future.

lol keep your money for your clutch dude . got my beaks bar and asr 24mm arb fitted even that looks the buisness will get pics up the moz

spacing for arb bolts on ek4 (99-00 us civic si) is different to that of ek9 which is shown clearly above

the ek9 arb doesnt fit straight on ek4, i had the ek4 oem brackets modded (cutting/welding etc) to accept ek9 arb many years back

just sell asr brace, should easily get back whatever ypu paid, pointless item on ek9 anyway so no harm done

Did you have asr brace fitted as well as ek9 arb or just the ek9 arb? We never tried to fit the ek9 arb when the brace was on as well but looked as if backets lined up.

Just for looks on an ek9 as you say cause they have thicker subframe already,John text me tonight after we'd been to garage and said he's getting a refund so happy days

i never had asr brace fitted and as result tore my ek4 subframe so then just had ek9 subframe welded in

I read the other thread where you were trying to figure out how to make the ASR fit... and I was wondering why you'd want an ASR to begin with.

Was it because you wanted to try their 32mm hollow bar?

^The TS stated on the other thread that he want to install a more beefy arb and also for bling purposes...

AFAIK, you need ASR subframes if you want to install beefier arb on an non EK9 civics.

IMO, an ASR subframe on an EK9 is overkill.

no dude it was purely bought for the looks as i know the ek9 doesnt need it
