ARB droplinks

I had the ASR spherical bearing drop links on my ek9 and they packed in after only a few months. my EK9 is daily drive. they started making a shocking rattling noise! dont get me wrong they looked and felt well good but I dont think they stand up well to the amount of speed bumps and pot holes on out roads! :( I have OEM honda now and they are way better!

Deffo the ASR ones? My ASR kit came with Blox links but not looking properly at the packaging I assumed them to be ASR. It was only when I looked at the packing after they had failed I noticed that they were infact B(ol)lox items.

I really can't comment on how long they will last on a daily driver, all I know is that they have Aurora spherical bearings which are aircraft grade. Their website states (regarding to the specific bearing used) that it is designed for general purpose use. The body is carbon steel, protective coated for corrosion resistance. Ball is alloy steel, heat treated and hard chrome plated.

But to be fair, some cars, like WRX Sti Subaru's come with pillowball (spherical bearing) rear roll bar links as standard, so I can't imagine them falling to pieces that fast unless they are generally just poor quality!

Yea it was ASR ones I had, I bought them from Accessory Zone but I honestly cant remember anything said on the box or that sorry. I will go dig out photos of them and look at me reciept and post up. I quite possibly had the blox ones also then.

Josh's ones sound immense so they may well do a perfect job! Sorry josh i was not trying to stop the sale mate!

No need to apologise pal! I'm in no hurry to sell these, so if they are not appropriate on a daily driver it's good that you posted up! I don't want to sell Steve something that's going to fall to bits on his car after 6 months! :) Like I said, I've never run anything but OEM droplinks before so I can't say one way or the other! I'm just curious that's all :nice:

No worries mate!:nice:

Just checked I have no photos of the ones I used and unfortunately cant find the receipt! :( I have checked my spreadsheet tho I only had them on for 5k miles!:(

Yea I have OEM ones on now also and they have been good for 10k miles so far!:nice:

guys i have the asr kit too and the end links are way too noisy. They don't collapse or anything but they only squeak after some time so they need often lubrication. I grease them 2 times a month and thus the irritating sound is less.
The ek9 droplinks i think are too expensive for what you get. Do you know if we can fit the ek4 ones which are cheaper, but meant for the 12mm rear swaybar?

I've had exactly the same issue. OEM droplinks will not fit through the Function 7 arms on my EM1. Strange, as I had no problems at all with my EG6 set up, also with F7 arms.

I have ASR spherical bearing links on at the moment and agree, they are noisy and annoying. They can be purchased from Stew of PPW (see Itr-DC2.com or CivicLife) brand new, think he can also get whiteline or similar.

Car shoudl be off to performance autoworks in the next few weeks so goign to ask for their advice. I'm also going to see if I can get away with a set of DC2 drop links.

What is it you want to know?

Eg6 and Ek4 links are very different.

EG6 ones are flat, held on to the droplink by nut and botl. They then have a seperate bolt which feeds through the droplink and holds the link flush to the LCA by a nut.

EK4 ones are essentially two ball joints with two threaded "bolt" sections which are attached to the joints, fed through the LCA and ARB and then held down with a nut. the problem with F7 arms and OEM links is that the threaded portion on the drop link is too short and does not come through the LCA far enough to get a nut on successfully.

Thanks for your input streaky, I'll speak to him about the whiteline ones

if I don't get anywhere with that then I'll be in touch with you josh about the asr ones :nice:
