Hi I have an eg6 rallycar with a b16a2 vti engine, engine is currently on omex 600 ecu and running 183bhp at the flywheel, with standard intake mani. Has anyone on here tried using the gsx-r throttle bodies? And if so what bhp gains did people achive?

I had a serious look in to doing this, had all the bodies, manifold, ECU, harnesses etc bought but decided to drop it in the end. It really does seem to be hit and miss whether you will get it to work properly.

One of the fundamental problems with bike throttles is the the throttle plate cam is geared differently to a cars as the range of motion on a hand twist throttle is a lot different to a foot pedal. Because the rate of opening is so aggressive when linked to a throttle pedal you can run into some difficult tuning problems as the system simply cannot react fast enough.

I sold all my kit in the end as I decided it was going to be too much of a ballache to get working on a car I needed to drive to work every morning.

Interesting point. Was it a tuner advised you to stay clear of this setup?

I know it can be alot of work mapping ITB's made for a car in the first place and using bike carbs does add another layer of complexity.

I saw a thread on here where someone was using Cbr1000 parts

*goes off and searches*

Here you go:

Cost about 1k all in with the work done by a tuner if your after something similar he might have some advice on how a car drives with them on.

Just the conclusion I came to myself, but I found out about the throttle cam afterwards from an article written by an ITB expert. The success/failure ratio was literally 50/50 from what I could find on Honda-Tech, I couldn't be bothered messing around with a car that wouldn't start in the mornings. If it's a rally car then it's fair to assume you're not commuting in it, so if you can afford some downtime if it plays up then no harm in giving it a go.

Bear in mind that J700OCK on this forum tried running properly specced Jenveys on his EK9 with a pretty expensive list of parts and he couldn't get that running properly either.

i'm running gsxr throttle bodies on a b18c4 in my vtec mini, well sort of,

only had it running for a few minutes, how well it will actually work out i dont know, i simply could not fit a stock c4 inlet manifold in and i already had the parts so it was worh a shot...

one issue was finding a tps to fit, had to make a bracket to fit it on the other end (linkage end)

getting the spacing correct also took a bit of time, if you plan to keep the injectors in the throttle bodys you will need to find a fuel rail to suit the spacing,

all in all its a fair amount of work and a pain in the ass so time and patience is the key

dont mind spending a bit of time on it, as long as it works in the end. Why wont the tps from the gsxr mani work properly with after market ecu's?

i didnt have the gsxr tps so i'm not sure, it may be compatable with your omex which would be helpfull, i ended up using a weber alpha tps,

GSXR TPS does not produce a signal compatible the the Honda ECU IIRC.

I think you 'might' be able to make it work with an appropriate ECU but otherwise you'll need to splice a Honda TPS onto the end of the shaft.

i tried doing that but failed as the honda tps needs to be sealed well to the TB as it is very sensitive to moisture, thats why i used the weber alpha one which was also compatible with my DTA ecu,

The origional poster is using omex so the gsxr tps may work

A guy on 16v Mini forum had bike ITB's on his b16 and they worked well, he has since swapped them for TWM's.

It made 171bhp with ITR cams and mapped to suit, only 2" exhaust which I thought was prob holding it back, made134lbft... they seem to really help the torque.
