Anyone race time attack/hill climbs in uk?

Sprints and Hillclimbs are good fun. Yes, you only get a few minutes driving but the overall cost is very low (not only entry fees but also club memeberships and general running costs) but that 10 or so minutes will be more fun than entire trackday as you are actually trying to beat someone/yourself on the clock.

Get a couple of mates together and it makes for a good day out, we get about 5-10 cars doing Hampshire based events with FDMC and when we're not driving we're relaxing on some deck chairs in the sunshine with a picnic, checking out the other cars in the paddock, chatting to other competitors etc. It's a a good craic and I highly recommend it, though I would emphasise having some people to go with as it might be a bit lonely on your own.

This is our next excursion:

If you have track experience then getting the ARDS will not be a problem, then its down to budget on what gear you buy, how its installed etc, both myself and James are new to it, you could check both build threads, I did list the sequence of what to do & equipment needed in mine. If you need finer details just post up :nice:

thanks buddy, ill have a read of them both now

Have you got a proper cage or a dash dodger? Which is both dangerous and not legal in competition.....

Dash dodger...

Mate don't you read!!! The reason for this post is i can't afford trackdays

My friend Russ does this in his CRX: FDMC - Farnborough District Motor Club, Hampshire, England He really enjoys it and its local to you. They have events in Farnborough and in Bordon. It's cheapy cheap, £30 or so I think he said it was.

That is oerfect and just down the road!

Anyone else do this? How do you get involved?

Half days?

No but its a bit of everything right now. Fuel for the trackday, fuel to the track as they are all miles away, the track day itself.... Bla bla bla Soon mounts up to a few £100 pounds

I would suggest rallycross but that would ruin your car!

If i sort my life out i will come do some sort of competition stuff with you mate!

there are quite a few guys on the ITR-DC2 website that do hill climbs, would be worth asking them what options there are!

I was going to do some sprints with FDMC couple of years back, signed up and went to an event to check it out as they had a solo on the army base, friendly bunch, never got round to having a go though.

I've been to watch a couple of times but never tried it. Does look a lot of fun (basically ragging around a car park with cones ;) ) and you get timed etc.

That's autotesting, it's the same format but on a much smaller scale, all first and second gear. Some of the sprints will see you maxing out 4th gear on the big airfield circuits, much more demanding!
