Hi lads,

Just wondering if any of you run the risk of a cold air intake with the poor irish weather?

I'm running a stock air intake system at the moment and it's a toss up between a spoon kevlar elbow w/spoon drop in fiter and the AEM V2, so just looking for opinions really...

Cheers

i would stick with the oem mate and spoon elbow drop in filter and cold air field.

AEM V2 is best bang for buck

unless you drive in flood water it will never suck up water

and as long as your arch lining is in good shape

I've a V2. would well recommend it. its handy enough to instsll and it sits right behind the left hand groove on the facelift bumpers so u can cut that out for a direct intake rather than drilling a big hole in the middle of it.

as leek9 said, unless ur driving threw a amount silly water with it youll b fine. i had to drive thru 2-3 inches of water on a motorway in France a couple of weeks ago and its fine. didnt miss a beat

I have an ITG panel filter and a carbon elbow from Tegiwa , have CAI coming from behind the bumber to the air box. Both choices are good in my opinion , I just dont really like the cone filters. I can grab my ITG filter give it a wash, re-oil it and i am ready to go again so I think its just handier. plus I think some body put up the dyno sheets comparing v2, jracing, and panel air filter plus CAI on a stock ek9 I think. The 3 rd option was the best in terms of gains.

deffo go the oem route.

i had an AEM CAI long time ago,the trottle response on them is terrible!

did sound well thou!

oem set up is hard to beat in my eyes unless you go likes of mugen.

ive had panel jsracing and mugen

jsracing is by far the best got told by ecc in lisburn that because the j`s racing is so large in diameter it stop a slight dip before v-tec

CAI intakes with long arms down into the fender is one factor that causes
that "dip" before vtec on a graph.

short ram intakes like the j`s will help the dip but you then you have heat soak with these style open filters!

mugen is best of both worlds because of its closed short ram style filter/box and the long intake pipe feeding it from outside the engine bay.

if i didnt have a mugen intake i would go back to oem intake at a blink of an eye no probs.

whatever intakes shops sell they are gonna push for you to buy at the end of the day!

x2 i've run a variety of diferent intakes: oem panel filter, j's racing, mugen, apexi. For noise i'd go for the J's every time as its just crazy and in carbon it looks badass. for me though the mugen is the best you can get as it looks the nuts, and doesnt suck in hot air like the J's induction kit. Shame its uber expensive though. :p

x3 also agree with this.. My car came with the mugen intake and I think its great. Had a js racing on my old vti-s and it sounded great.. But if I didnt have the mugen intake I most certainly would have a oem box with a cold air feed
