56K What the hell ?

Im sure im not the only one left wondering, it seems that u guys over the pond use this saying alot.

56K = Death

I mean what the hell does it mean.

It's internet connection speed - 56 kbit/s speed modems were once fairly widely used but are ridiculously slow by todays comparisons.

You normally see 56K mentioned on threads that include a lot of pics - at 56 kbit/s i suspect these threads would take more than a few minutes to load....

Naa i remember the days of them when i was like 10 5 kb/s take u like 3 days to download anything big.

my first internet could download at 3kb/sec My first PC had the brand new windows 3.1 and a 2GB HD, we upgraded it to a new one then with Win 95 and a 3GB HD

i'm pretty sure dial up connections are gone in ireland, everyone thats on the net has broadband. haven't heard of anyone using dial up for a few years now!

Some remote areas have no option, i think satelite internet may have changed that recently though.
