3 points and £60 fine for abs light on

Got pulled by police and got vosa to inspect my car. they were chatting sh*t about how low it was drove it around to check if it fouls the under trim but then they saw abs light on and went on one. Got to get the car re-motd and produce and surrender licence to get points. Proper assholes

Shall i got to court or pay the twats :mad:
 
is your brakes still working ok even tho the light is on!? thats proper sickening getting a fine for that
 
the brakes are spot on mate. i'd never skimp out on safety if they werent safe i wouldnt drive the car. It just got motd in august. i need to get new mot as well
 
Hmm these Vosa checks are occurring quite a lot these days...

3 points and £60 is pretty shocking for just having the ABS light on.. My hate for the traffics is growing.
 
That seems a bit unfair!!

Id see what your options are but as usual you will probably just have to pay! :(
 
That is proper harsh.
Cops are just a bunch of wankers, nothing else to do but slash down on us.
 
think i would go to see the magistrate tbh and tell them of an intermittent problem has been pointed out to you from the helpfull police officers thankfully. And have tested the car as recomended and is now working fine tell them of your need for clean licence?
and just grovel !!!!!!!!!!worth a try<if there isnt something you int told us?>if so post your licence off.
 
That's very harsh. I don't think I could sit back and just surrender my licence, someone needs to stand up to these arseholes
 
i have never heard of getting that for having an abs light :0 complete arseholes lol i have my engine light on been on since i bought the car i wonder if they would try and attempt to give me points for that haha
 
Wtf, that's insane! If there is no rule for having an ABS light on then I wonder what they have written as reason for the fine...if that is not right, then I'd try to go to court.
 
Depends if the ABS light on due to an error (hardly fair) or they looked at the fuse box and saw you had disabled it by removing the fuse/relay.

If it's the latter, tough ****.
 
The fine, Is almost believable but 3point?? for the ABS light being on? Its still got brakes and alot of cars don't even have abs?

And as said if it was a fault then its hardly something you should be punished for, just advised on where to get it seen too!

As kozy says tho, if they know you removed the fuse etc then i guess your buggered, still don't think 3 points is fair though

Sounds like a lot of balls to me man, never heard of that before. Surely you can fight this ? 3 points is a joke ! :angry:
 
that is a joke man! never even thought they would give you a fine tbh, especially if your brakes are fine! sound as if they were just looking for something to book you for :angry:
 
go to court mate. this seems unfair especially after getting the car MOTd. Thats completely insane!!!! good luck
 
what conviction code are they giving you?? im sure they cant hand out 3 point because of an abs light.

thanks for comments guys. No the fuse isnt out possibly faulty sensor. I think its better without abs anyway. The offence is code 159 and wrote on defective brakes. The vosa guy werent bad he said get retest as in full mot.

The power tripping bi*ch copper was the one running the show she the one told the officer who pulled me to give points. They didnt even know what code to write.

After few discussions with my mates. they mentioned a couple of points:
1) if the brakes were defective why did the allow me to drive off/home, surely defective brakes are risk to myself, other road users and the public. For example if you had defective tires they would of recovered your car plus there was a van there that haldbrake wasnt working they recovered that so his brakes were defective.
2) manufacturers of cars or manufacturers of braking systems have a fail safe mechanism that if for what ever reason abs failed the car will still stop sufficiently having adequate brakes.
3) as mentioned many cars dont have abs but yet they still pass mot.

What you reckon valid reasons. I have decided not to surrender my license and take the twats to court.

Giving you 3 points for a MIL on without even knowing the exact fault is crazy..!?!?!

If i where you , Id have my day in court yes please
