What a brilliant weekend at Ten of the Best. The car felt great on the Saturday, and by the end of testing we had a set up that we were happy with for the main comp on Sunday. They change the track overnight so there's no advantage to the guys who made it Saturday, and it's 5 times runs for qualifying. I topped my class after quali and then we were into the shootout.
The top 5 run twice again, and then the top 2 have a 1 run winner takes all shootout. The rain came down with about 30 mins to go, so there was little time, but we made a few changes to help in the really wet circuit. After the initial shootout I topped the class again, with a decent margin (my wet time would have won the dry quali). Into the shootout, and I ran second, so as I'm sat on the line I could see the time I had to beat. He did a fantastic job and knocked nearly a second off his best time, but still 2.5 seconds from my previous. I drove hard , but with no risks, and thankfully came home first and still 2.3 seconds ahead of second.
It was a fantastic turn out of Fwd cars, and on any other day I think that any of the top 5 could have won it. I think I was lucky that my setup just suited the track as it was laid out.
I was stoked with the result, and completed a treble
Fastest fwd in practice
Fastest fwd overall
Fastest car overall (fwd, RWD,4wd) in the final shootout.
The car was awesome both in the wet and in the dry, and the package as a whole was just right at home on the shorter tracks. I know i may be biased, but I genuinely can't thank enough the people who have helped me this year.
In particular Yellowspeed & TDi North, for their help, advice and support. There's nothing fancy on the car, just off the shelf parts that these guys supply and fit everyday. The bits I've got are no different to the bits they would supply to all of their customers. I think it's a testament to the quality of their products that I drove it there, thrashed it for 2 days and drove it home.
Back to reality at a long circuit with croft in 3 weeks
