right just fitted the 4 pots i orderd to the car, went out bleeding them did both outer nipples then both inner untill no bubbles...

pedal was rock hard without the engine running now it's hella soft and goes right to the floor when engine is running. car brakes verry well. amazing infact but seriously do not like the pedal travel.

I didnt bleed the rear brakes btw. did not think i needed too, have you got any idea's guys.

Also there was a bit of liquid in my alloys after i went for a drive but i spilt some fluid on the calipers while bleeding even though i wiped it up i mite have missed some you reckon it could have flicked into the alloys somehow or leak maybe ?

just need some advice i dont have a brake stopper btw need to get one but sureley the lack of one wouldnt make the pedal go right to the floor ?

cheers in advance..

So long as your brakes kept working and the fluid hasn't drained out of the resevoir then it shouldn't be a leak.

Wilwoods will increase the pedal stroke by virtue of the larger pistons. What brakes were you upgrading from and what MC are you using?

Installed in last weekend wilwoods from freaky and also feel my pedal spongy and goes all the way down.
I will make few miles on them and back for bleed again and see what happens

I have oem ek4 mc, 15/16"

Once the pedal is rock solid when the engine is off you are ok.

Spongy pedal is probably the new pads and a 1'' MC will give better pedal pressure ~ less stroke than the 15/16'' MC.

But the pedal stroke will always be longer than standard because of the bigger piston area , what Kozy said above :)

Took me AGES to do mine, but I changed rears too.

I mean days here and four ford technicians couldn't do it in 8 hours.

boro_andy i dont understand...in the end of the day the brakes become as normal?

i'm using the standard MC but i'm sorry it's more than big enough, it's the same size as the MC's on Megane RS's and they have big brembo brakes wich are bigger than the wilwoods if i recall.

and no the pedal stays the same all the time. the pedal isnt fully rock sollid it's hard but still got some softness too it when the engine is off but only for less than an inche maybe.

i just dont want the pedal to go right down to the floor makes me feel like i've got no brakes at all wich i do not like.

You cannot compare between cars like that, there are far too many variables to consider. Your Wilwoods have 35% more piston area than the EK4 brakes, the 15/16" MC is not big enough for this.

If you want a cheap fix, get what Tama calls a 'Kozy Adjuster'. It's a vacuum relief valve tee'd into your brake booster vacuum line between the check valve and the booster. With this you can turn the boost down and increase the pedal hardness. Has a similar effect to a larger MC at a fraction of the work and cost (no new MC or re-bleeding).

im using S/S hoses.

and i can understand having a bit more travel on the pedal but going to the floor is just silly, i dont think even the bigger MC will cure it so much.

i will look into one of those vac valves though and also im going to buy a brake stopper.

i really dont mind the pedal going in say a cm further than with the standard brakes but having to hit the floor to cause braking is too much.

i know people that run the brakes with the standard MC and dont have this problem.

A brakestopper will do sod all for your problem.

If they work, drive them for a bit, I find pedal feel is always shite at first but improves as the miles go on.

If it doesn't improve, give them a full gravity bleed. It takes time but is very effective.

If that doesn't cure it, try the vacuum valve.

If that doesn't work, it's new MC time.

full gravity bleed ?
sorry for the ignorance but can you explain that........

you open the bottom valves and let them drip for an hour or 2 keeping an eye on fluid level. then close ... they auto purge them self if i think right.

i'l drive like this for now but im going to order one of those kozy thingys anyone got a link for where i can buy one.

and it's new discs and pads this mite not help maybe i dunno will see.

The brake booster won't stop the pedal going to the floor though, it'll only make pushing it harder. Or am I wrong?

i dunno when the car is off i cant push the pedal too the floor so should cure some of it maybe not all bu a bit mayb.

got any idea where i can get one from ><

yeah think i mite need to upgrade then. when you fit the new mc if you bench bleed it do you still need to rebleed the hole system?

anyway will see about that later aint got the cash atm im intrested in that kozzy adjuster though because i never liked the feel of the brakes anyway so would be intresting to see what they would feel like.

do you have braided lines too? As when I did mine I fitted, new MC, braided lines all round, willwoods and a brake stopper. My pedal is mint, hardly any travel at all
