well as yee all know the figuree for a standard ek9 is 185bhp.

today i got 161bhp and a few mnths ago i only got 159!!:angry2::mad:
my buddy in his SiR2 got more 175!

any clues why this is happening?????

the guy in the garage told me that if i got it delimited it would free a few hp's. id this correct????

he also talked to me about him doing a vtec tune up like checking the cam timings??

what do yee think i should do lads??

cheers,
Den:thanks:

First of all check the compression per cylinder.

Depending on that you should decide what do do next.

Does your car takes out any white smoke at all?

If you get your car delimited the only difference you will see is that you can reach more than 180km/h.

Cam timings will only benefit you if you have a after market camshafts + you need cam gears. Maybe he referred to valve calibration ?

When people complain about dyno figures, I always make the same question: How does your EK9 performs on the road? Have you test it against your friend's SiR and you were slower?? Some dynos can get really dizzy for many reasons you know.......

excellent point :nice:

And if you take it to 10 different dynometers, most probably you will get 10 different results, some might be really contradictive and you are gonna **** your mind completely

dyno's are not measuring devices, they are devices used to tune vehicles.

no smoke is being released at all.
but its not delimited he told me i will get an extra 5-10bhp by doing so

ya i have tested it against him and i was slower by a car length.

his was a SiR2 eg6. fully stripped interior, 421 5zigen manifold, decat, catback hks hi power exhaust. and spoon drop in filter. its a quick lil car:shocked:

Unfortunately, I will have to totally disagree with this. Does he have any clue of what is a speed/rpm limiter?? I doubt
Speed/rpm limiter are devices that do not affect the performance of the car in any way!! They just stand there as a wall so the engine will never go through a certain speed or rpm.
Hey denward, suppose two cases where in both your car is stock:
1) Your EK9 cannot go beyond 200 km/h due to a speed limiter.
2) You cannot go beyond 200 km/h due to close gear ratios.
In the first case, you make 185 bhp
In the second case, you have exceeded 200 bhp!! :nice:

A civic hatch is greatly affected by weight as you already know, so if its fully stripped, but also having all the basic modds(intake, header, exhaust) and also without catalyst, then I believe you might see his rear lights in a drag race!! :(

What you should do? I think you should enjoy your EK9 mate and the rest are for the pub talk. If your planning for some mods as well to be more competitive that would be even better :woot:

He's talking rubbish unfortunately mate. It's limiting top speed, not power.

ya i thought this aswell but my buddy got 166 the first time. and then ur man realised the car was limited then second time round he delimited it and tried it in 5th gear then he made the 175bhp:shocked: im all confused:lol:

cheers bud but easier said than done:( want to build on my power anyway.

what mods should i start with?? intake(done) exhaust decat and mani. maybe ecu?

what are the power fc's like in the ek9???? they are at a reasonable price on nengun €500 deliveered

Before starting engine and ECU upgrades, intake - header - exhaust are a must.
I've already ordered an Apexi Power FC + commander and paid $300 deposit. You can get huge power from this B16B engine using a Power FC along with a pair of aggressive cams and some other goodies!! :nice:

what was water temp when on dyno ? could explain why figure was so low, huge weakpoint of ek9

most of the time hondas are run in 4th gear on dyno power runs ,try a different rolling road mate as manos said before they can differ greatly from one dyno to the next ,second have you done all the usual things like change the plugs ,oil, fuel filter and air filter as this will probs help alot ,a friend of mine ran his ek9 just after he bought it and it only got 168bhp @ the flywheel, so we checked his plugs they were shot ,the air filter was very dirty, the fuel filter was full of crap.

check all these before you put it back on the dyno mate :nice:

I this is true iceman ,also denward what was your intake air temperature as well ,if you run a open cone intake your intake temperature could have been well high ,me and my mate ran our ek9's his ran a j's racing intake open cone: with air intake temperature of 38 degrees c and my ek9 runs a itg maxogen carbon air box and the intake air temperature was 19-20 degrees c

if all is well and your still running low bhp, instead of modding it further i would do an engine rebuild and buy new pistons etc, icb motorsport are selling brand new ek9 pistons quite cheap, and give it a good clean up, then try again
