Why is my bhp so low?!?!?!?!??


how well serviced is your car?

has the cambelt ad waterpump been done yet? due to the adge of an ek9 even low mileage ones should have this done after being imported!
as well as that i would have allthe basics done
-oil and filter change
-valve clearances
-timing checked
-new plugs (leads also if the current ones are a bit knackered)
-any other servicing work needed

also what intake do you have? i've heard that ek9's and other type R's perform best with the standard airbox and just a panel filter.
my friends old ek9 has a aem cai and it left a nasty flat spot in the revs and he ended up having a unichip fitted and his car dyno tuned to make the best of his mods as his car was also down on power! his car was about 171bhp before and then 195 after unichip and vtec module fitted. that was with same mods as yours - intake, header, exhaust with sports cat. he also started running the car only on super unleaded too which helped!
 
Its not hard to spot the difference between a vti and a type r. Plus vti's were only made in europe. The SiR is the jap version, but you still would seen the differences...
 
like the obvious difference of B16A2 stamped on the block rather than B16B :lol:
 
you could just have a tarted up vti from japan pawned off to ireland as a type r.

that defo didnt happen bud. chassis code:ek9 engine block b16b. every bit is type r thank god:D

i feel its running quicker than that anyway.

might check the cam timing and a few bits after i pick up the new exhaust:nice:

-the cambelt has been changed but the water pump hasnt been.
-good new plugs and oil have been recently changed.
-valve clearance and timing havent been checked but im planning on thyem soon.
-since that dyno ive bought a standard airbox and a Spoon panel filter and got rid of the short ram kit.

i should have my Spoon N1 and Spoon b- pipe on soon so ill see what it is then:)
 
i see your from cork.Where are u gettin the spoon parts.Cant find them anywhere without paying ridiculous money.

Got the tailpipe from nengun and the b pipe from xtreme in waterford. i expected to pay more for a spoon exhaust so happy.

might be a stupid q but what you driving?? would i have seen it?:pics:

am a new user on the ek9 forum so excuse us if i get mistaken with something.

was just reading trough this tread and i also have the same problem, got my ek9 dyno'd yesterday and got 155bhp and the mods i have on the car are full stainless steal xhaust 2.5inch from decat and 4 inch back bock, jasma stampd 4-2-1 mani, aem long are induction, skunk2 inlet bored out 70mm, blox tb 70mm, igntion leads and a map on crome, the car pulls well in and out of vtec with no smoke, the vtec is aggressive as it should be and the power band is all the way, i have raced a friends ek9 with the same type of mods and i was a car gap in front and also stick with my friends dc5 up till 4th gear but the dc5 is totaly standard. still i am seeing low figures on the dyno would be really help full if somebody could help us out here

Get the timing checked , my brothers was down on power , around 165 bhp , took it to a tuner said timing was out , sorted it and with intake and exhaust and little tune on airflow controller ,now around 190 mark

im in cork too.yellow ek9 rx in fas I do be, if you want your car mapped get onto vtec6000 on here, he done a serious job on mine
 
Hey Burkey, denward hasn't been active in over a year. Maybe he still lurks. This is also a thread over 5 years old.
