Which Upgraded Calipers?

I've just had the stop tech front big brake kit fitted to my FN2 and the braking power is great and no fade. The wilwood 4 pots I had on my ek9 fitted onto the standard disks and were a massive improvement over standard and very well made.

Please proceed replying this thread as i love read them :nice::clap:

I will install the wilwood freaky kit very soon as long with Tarox G88 282mm from MG (wich is 2mm ticker from itr/dc2). For now i will install without rear upgrade but its on my mind doing that as soon i found a good used set to buy.

Kozy, do you think its better install the ek9/dc2 brake bias in ek4?

I don't know the exact difference, or even if there is one at all, but it can't hurt if you've upgraded both assemblies.

If you want to really finish it off, stick the EK9 ABS computer in too.

Thats a thing i didnt remeber (ABS)...its not the same?

maybe R one actually work later or so :nerv:

The control algorithm will be tuned to exactly how much force each psi of pressure generates on the stock braking system, when you change the brake set up you alter this pressure/force ratio and reduce the effectiveness of the ABS as it constantly lowers and raises the pressure to control wheel slip. The EK4 system will still work, but an EK9 one will be better suited.

I expect someone will prove me wrong now by telling me they have the same part numbers... :D

You might not want it on a track car, but personally I like it on a road car.

Some racers I have spoken to advocate the use the ABS in competition because flatspotting will kill your tyres and cost you time. **** ABS is ****, so sure get rid of it, but good ABS is worth having IMO.

If have time to feel them letting go, then you aren't getting on them quick enough. :p

Is there much of a performance difference from the normal 282mm calipers to the spoon 4 pots? I know of course they will be lighter and such but will they dissipate heat as well as the cast ones and be more responsive.

I was also concidering the willwood setup but i like the standard disc size and bigger standard pads. Plus I dont like the idea of wheel fittment issues. Does anybody know if you need bigger offset wheels for the spoons??

I mean no dissrespect but i fit tyres and such for a living so I have that base covered.

I just want to know how much of an improvement the spoon 4pots will be over the normal 282mm calipers. Or would it be just as good to go with the willwood calipers on std discs.?

The Wilwoods also fit over standard wheels, there's a pic somewhere showing it. Another thing to consider is consumables, replacement DS2500 pads for the Wilwoods are approximate 1/2 the price of the the OEM fitment.
That combined with the new kit being 2/3rds the price of just a second hand pair of calipers does mean it should be considered.

But the willwood pads have a smaller surface area than the standard 282mm ones.
Do you make a kit to fit the mg 25mm x 282mm, 4x100 setups used on EG6's.

It is a smaller surface area yes, but as mentioned, the pads are cheaper :D
The Midilite kit will fit to the MG discs on the EG6 yes.

If you want to spend Spoon money, there's always the Superlite kit, which has bigger than OEM pads, 298x32mm 2 piece discs and 4 pot calipers. Those wont fit behind standard 15" alloys, but if you're wanting a kit like that, the chances are you wont be running standard wheels :D

That's correct. The Superlite uses bigger, much thicker discs and the calipers are a lot bigger as well.
They go nicely behind 15" Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2s :D

Apparently they don't fit behind the 1.2's only the pro race 1's.

Or have you had a set fit the 1.2's??

Who's said they dont clear the Pro Race 1.2s?
The Team Dynamic Pro Race range are designed to give maximum clearance over big calipers. Both the 1 and 1.2 have almost identical spoke curves to allow for this.
The only difference could be the offsets of the specific wheel.

Here's a couple of pics of them fitted to some 15" TDs:

Those are 1's.

An I just heard from Dunxs. He said he tried the measurements with the 1.2's and said the inner wells wouldn't clear as they're a different shape on the 1.2's.

Was quite disappointed as I was planing ti buy some 1.2s for when I get the superligh setup.
