Hi guys, as the title says. I have got a set of d2s on my ek4 and have a 24mm asr rear ARB and i am running r888's. I am looking to make the car handle as good as i can so was wondering what kind of spring rates people are running so i can get some idea of what i should aim for. The springs that come with the d2's are 9.8kg/mm on the front and 5.0 kg/mm on the rear. Peoples opinions would be great thanks

I run D2 on mine I put the front springs 9.8 on the rear and bought new fronts (12.7 iirc) I love it just right on the road when on soft wind it up to stiff and its pretty good round the ring also.

I have OEM ARB but D2 LCA and new Honda RTA bushes.

I also use R888's

If your not far from me your welcome to come out and feel what's its like.

Oh get a decent allignment set up with some aggressive camber

That setup is more understeer biased than a stock EK9, all else being equal.

Personally, on an EK I would be gunning for roughly equal rates front and rear, maybe 1-2kg stiffer up front depending on your geometry and ARB settings.

Mine are HSD HR with 12kg/mm front and 7kg/mm rear
Standard EK4 ARBs front and back. I get one fine with it, feels like I got plenty of grip and with a little bit of rear toe out it turns pretty nicely whilst feeling stable enough for the fast stuff.

It has to be said spring rates are pretty much personal prefrence, as to how you want the car to handle, some prefer the easier rotaion you get with equal or higher spring rates in the rear with a big rear ARB, others prefer it more neutral...

If you like how it handles now, keep a similar stagger front to rear between the spring rates, but just up them both equaly, like ijwhiteman suggested.

OEM Shocks with Spoon springs, feels a little stiffer than stock, does what i need to fastroad driving and trackdays. Plus a good geo setup works wonders, fully rebushed too, feels tight :D

thanks for the replys guys, it seems that everyone does have there own preferences but at least now i have an idea what most people are running. i think i might swap the 9.8 kg/mm to the rear as ijwhiteman has done and maby get some 10/12 kg/mm for the front. i do also have front adjustable camber arms and im running 2.5deg but i dont want to go too stiff on the front otherwise i will start to loose grip.

what other chassis mods do you have and what tyres are you using ?

ajustable front and rear camber arms, new rta bushes and lca bushes. Only got on yokohama s-drive's and it handles immense! Can't wait for some decent rubber (federal 595rsr)

ahh ok and what camber are you running front and rear ?

this is a good thread, im looking to overhaul my whole suspension set up (which is stock at the minute), and would like to know about the spring rates.
what are the stock spring rates on the standard springs?
the sort of setup im looking at is, r888's, camber arms from and rear, hardrace bushes, honda rta bushes, new drop links, plus some coilovers of which i havnt decided on yet.. any ideas for the sort of spring rates i would be looking at? it will be a weekend car/occasional track day car, but i dont want it to be mega stiff and crashy!

Something around 4.2kg/mm on EK9 and 4.6kg/mm on ITR if I remember right.

But I never remember which ones (Front or rear) are linear and progressive ...

I had 6.3/5.5kg springs with Spoon dampers, it was fine with R888s. The thing you have to make sure of is that with whatever ride height you choose, you do not bottom out the suspension in mid corner roll. The Spoon setup isn't that low so the low rates are absolutely fine for this, and the bonus is it's still great on the road, probably still a bit too stiff over really bumpy roads.

You seen the spoon civic setup? now thats hard..

What setup are you on about, the coilovers? They are race kit IIRC, not really suitable for road use but people probably run them as such anyway. 'Because Race Car'.
