What got you guys into cars???

Top Thread mate :nice:

Started with motorbikes at about the age of 3 i'd say... My Dad got me into them as he had a couple, as did my uncle... My grandad used to buy me small model bikes every week so I really had a thing for them from early on... Then when my sister came along we needed a car in the family so my da bought a renault 5 :D Car was always gettin fixed so naturally I wanted to stick my head in and see what was goin on...

The 1st Gran Turismo for the playstation really set things off for me though... Played it for hours on end, and fell in love with the R32 Skyline GTR :wow: Subsequently all jap cars...

Then, came The Fast and The Furious, which I know is in almost everyones story, but anyway, it introduced me to whole other aspect of motoring... From then I start buying the mags and going to shows, haven't looked back since...

As for hondas, well I caught that bug when I bought my 1st one...98 spec DC2 typeR... Now on my 3rd honda, and am already planning my 4th and 5th :D

Thanks for reading :D :nice:

Wowwwww! Wellll. My dad had me working on old muscle cars when I was about 11. Fell in love with anything that had wheels and a motor. And as for me deciding honda was the **** was my 8th grade winter. My friends brother picked us up in this beat to living **** EBP 88ef with a jdm b16 and some mild head work.(car ran mid 12's) and in my group of friends we made fun of 4 cylinder motors and honda, loud fart can mufflers and fags with race seats. We were into big bad V8's! But after that ride in the beat down, wood screwed on body kit and welded diff EF, **** is all I can say. VTec was the **** haha. We went down the freeway and ended up getting laughed at by some jock in a new mustang. My buddies brother downshifted and blew the mustangs doors off. Of course this was back in 99, not to many ppl we're into swaps like now. Changed my life 4 ever haha.

Sorry for the ramble mates, just chiming in.

Watching formula 1 cars when they were arguably at their most powerful (1500cc turbo's with 1000BHP+ (qualifying) ) and spectacular with flaming exhausts & titanium skid blocks was something special for a young lad...

Ever since then i was hooked on cars.

Back in the day when there was such thing as overtaking, and F1 was actually interesting :nice:
Nigel Mansell was a legend.

Great Thread!!!

I was like 11-12 when my cusins bf had a Reggie 5 GT Turbo, with a Snan-on steering wheel! I was fascinated and instantly hooked on modifying cars. He gave me sum old copies of Max Power & Fast car. I read every page and started spending all my pocket money on car mags. Soon as I could drive I had a 5 door 106. At the time having big sounds was cool, so I had my 12” sub and amp, 4 6x9 speakers in a custom parcel shelf (mdf covered in carpet! Lol) and the best stereo ever, I thought.

Then, a good couple of years ago, I saw an advert for the buddy club kit on a white ek civic an just thought “that’s pure *** on wheels” ever since Ive been hooked on Honda’s and anything jap. Picked up a light weight EK9 a while back and been loving it ever since.

something to spend money and time on. for hondas the fact that i can get amazing weight to power ratio. and i have 400whp out of 91octane with only a inline 4 and a turbo ahaha.
and the girls but im married :/

living in a small town i'd go down the town centre on a friday/saturday night and would stand on the street corners watching all the older guys with their mk2 xr2's,xr3i's, capri's,astra gte's and if they were well off they'd have an rs turbo or even a sapphire cosworth, lol this was about 14 years ago, bought my first s2 escort rs turbo at the age of 18,29 now, my dad told me to buy a 16v crx at the time but hondas back then were only driven by old people lol,my first honda was a crx sir at the age of 22,bought it after i drove a friends and could'nt believe how good it was.
of couse i read max power back then too lol.

Old man was in RAF - think I inherited his love for fast and loud things - EK9s are a bit more accessible than a Jet at the moment lol. The buzz to be had from driving a good car like its built to be driven is, and DannyD put it: the most fun you can have with your clothes on! :D

Btw i think we need to introduce Slip to this guy:Man admits 'having sex' with 1,000 cars - Telegraph:nice:

F1 always watched it wit my dad as a kid..the greatest sport in the world..

my earliest memory is playing need for speed underground 2

that game rocks my little frilly socks

That was like...2 years ago

Ive just always been into cars, used to have a picture of an Accord type R on my wall when i was a laddie, in amongst the lambos and Ferraris, they all got ripped down and replaced with pictures of Tits when i was about 13-14 but a few car posters remained

I started off as a vauxhall man, but they are shite

seeing as my rents never had one or a license this made me obsesed with them! i reckon it started at an early age playing with micro machines  also watching touring cars on the tv also a guy who used to live on my streets dad used to do restovations on old skool machines , then unfortunateley my first car was a bubble shape micra, which was sold on very quickly to get an ek which i drove for 2 and a half years and now have owned the ek9 for a year + :D

i suppose need for speed 1 and midnight club also ignited my super when i was a wee lad

GT4 and my dad got me into cars.

Hes always had obscure but normally quick cars Z3Mcoupe, 944 turbo, 911,328 GTS, SL500 etc.

So he got me intrested, Id been round Knockhill, Brands hatch, Cames and stuff with him.

But it was a boy I knew that had CivicJordan 331 (now owned by Rascal69) that got me into Hondas.

My dads a mechanic.
My uncles a mechanic.
My brother works for Vw.
My sister works for a precision engineering firm who make components for formula racing cars.
My brother in law is a parts manager.
I've worked in bodyshops since I left school and now manage one.

I've been watching drag racing and going to custom car shows at Santa Pod since I can remember, and I think that was a big factor in how I got into cars. Santa Pods literally ten minutes from my house and when I was a kid we used to be able to hear the cars roaring up the strip floating across on the summers breeze if we weren't lucky enough to be there!

my is answer is nothing

not single 1 of my close mates were ever into cars and nothing really got me into hondas, ive had a thing for revs since to started to drive (no reason for it just ticked boes inside me), hondas approach is very different to most and just intrigued me so been very happy since owning mine now for several years
