Okay guys so i have got an ek4 and i want to do a brake upgrade to it and run 282mm discs, but i dont want to change it to 5 stud due to just buying brand new buddy club wheels.

So basically what calippers and carriers do i need? also what discs and pads would people advise to run with them? also will they fit under 15x6.5 et42 buddy club p1's?

And last of all, what do i do with the rear is it okay to keep them stock??

you could just use ek9 calipers and mg 282mm discs and that would allow you to keep hold of your 4 stud set up. if your after a set of ek9 calipers i have got some in the for sale section :nice:

and with the carriers they would bolt straight up to 4 stud vti hubs??

will i notice a difference going with the ek9 callipers and 282mm discs

You can also use the caliper and carriers off 1.8VTi hatch and aerodeck (although the rear carriers won't fit), UK or 98spec DC2 and (i think) any 2.2 Prelude.
Use disks for MG ZS180 or MGZR160.

are the mg discs the same thickness then? and is it worth doing an ek9 rear calliper conversion aswell?

are both the mgzs180 and mgzr160 discs 282mm then buddy?

sorry bout all the questions just dont really know much about the brake side of things lol

It's 'OK' to leave them stock, but the car will not perform at it's best without them. If you can get the rear 260mm setup then I would reccomend doing them.

As far as I was aware, neither the front or rear ek9 calipers will fit as the disc is a different offset.

okay guys i can get the front callipers & carriers seccond hand for £170 and the rears for £130.

Now i know with the fronts I will run the mg ZS180 discs and fredoo pads but what discs do i run on the rear that will be the correct size but 4 stud??

Either the offset or the thickness of the MG disks are slightly different but they still fit ok.
I never bothered with the rears on mine but I would imagine if you look up the size of the rears of those MG models they would come up as 260mm.
If you go to Motorsport World - Performance Car Parts Mail Order and look up EBC brake disks they give you the dimensions of the disks so you can check out if the MG ones match the EK9 rears

so have you done this conversion on yours then bro?? would be good if you have just to give me some info on how hard to do it and and stuff

also can i use the discs off of any mg no matter what the year? or is there a certain year i need?

I'm not 100% certain but I would be checking that MG discs fit with EK9 calipers. I have MG discs and calipers and it bolts straight on with no modification. Best try and get the setup all from the same car if possible, makes it nice and easy.

Mg Zs 180 or MG zr 160 discs are 282mm, you can actually use the calipers/ carriers from a Mg zr 160/ Mg Zs 180 as well to give you a complete bolt on upgrade.
