Well basically today comin home from work I was drivin down the a9 just outside of Perth and noticed the traffic police slowed down and they sat behind me until a lay-by and then blue lights so I pulled in, out pop the officer and told me to wait 5 mins so I waited then another car and 2 officers apperared and told me to open my bonnet and get out which I did they then raved on about how long my car was and how it wasn't safe but legal, then done a exhaust test checked if it met the legal noise limit fine it did then checked my suspension and fine alls good Tyres alls good and then my chassis code and made sure I didn't have a bigger engine and filled a form out which I signed with the reason I was stopped which was just a check and that my car passed these things, has anyone else ever had to do this or even heard of it?

Ps, I noticed a black ek9 going into Perth around 4,40 and 5pm on the a9 south bound was this you?:p

Never heard of it mate,I have been stopped a few times but the police normally love the car and just wana talk about it,the last one sayed to me"wats the point in checking it,it looks mint!" Thank fuk when i needed 2 new tyres haha!Good thing to know they have started stoping the cars and calling in more police to check the cars over!

my mate got an emissions test in gorbals area a few months back and just got a warning lol but other than that, i havn't heard anything else, especially a vosa test :\

Poor form! At least everything was ok! Will affect others bad! I dont understand why they must always give people like us such a hard time when there is so many people out on the road with no insurance, tax, driving licence etc that they should be pursuing! I hate the fact because of the car you drive they pull you over!

VOSA are part of the govermants department of transport, Vehicle & operators standards agency. Have you never looked at your MOT certificate ?they are allowed to pull anyone over and check there car but are more normally seen to target commercial vehicles.

I use a toll road to get to work and VOSA set up a check point there were I've seen them pull alot of vans and diesel cars over and they dip the tanks for red diesel and do other checks like tacho graph checks and other vehicle checks. I've never been pulled myself as I don't have nowt to worry about.

We had a spat of them testing exhausts on the IOW a few months back.

gav why were you going up the a9 ?? oh nooo this is so close to my home, im scared to leave my house !!

I support this sort of thing

As much of a pain in the hoop it is, should hopefully clamp down on the amount of people who do not correctly insure and/or register their cars for modifications and engine swaps etc

Also should clamp down on peoples cars which are not worthy for the road

If your car is correctly insured and in road worthy condition then you have nothing to worry about, simple :run:

Agree, but needs to be easier and cheaper to register and insure changes.

I also agree with this, but if you look at 80 or 90% of the guys on this forum most of them are probobly useing de-cats on their exhausts. so if they are being stopped and tested then im sure its an on the spot fine for this?

If you fail a roadside emissions test you will not receive an on the spot fine, could be a faulty sensor etc which has caused this since it's last MOT

However if you are stopped and your car does not have a CAT then yes you should receive a fine

Running a de-cat on the road is always a risk, if you choose to take said risk then you have to deal with the potential fine

and what do u mean they were onabout how long your car is ?

I Ment low Sam, stupid iPhone haha, I was going up the a9 as in north towards luncarty, yeah I agree with pretty much everyone on here, but I put this up just wondering if anyone else heard of it, I had no intensions to have a go at the police as the officer was only doing his job and I respect that, and that the world would be a very very hard place without the police etc,
