Volks TE37's Colours.. *New Twist, powercoat or paint!*

number one, i literally honestly cant decide what colour to go lol.

number two, white looks the business, and being one of only 2 Ek9's down my way in plymouth, im the only one with white wheels

number three, white wheels look awesomez.

in my opinion you have made the right choice ha ;)i know the wheels and car are two different shades of white but they look so nice in white it dont matter ha :D

Leaving the caps off is the way to go.

RE color, as long as you have Volks any color will be just fine!

sorry to bump this thread, but it now has new twist.

My TE37's powder coating.. or paint.

read some places about powdercoating effecting the forged wheels due to temps, others say they do it all the time yada yada.

OR

safe option and just get the wheels painted.. discuss.

Powdercoating is safe depending on the temperatures from what I've gathered, just got a set of forged wheels done there courtesy of Goba.

And in reference to colour, I say black or silver!

As Kipper said, if going for powder coating on forged wheels they need to be done at correct temperature otherwise they will soften. I would personally just paint them.

See that's what gets me worried, people telling me temps then not being genuine. I'd hate to ruin my wheels :-(

Na be safe and get them painted mate, are colours not more limited when powder coating as well ?

Volks come from the factory powder coated. Go figure that one out.
Curing temp for powder coating is around 200°C.

I've heard different things tama! Hmm Internet is full of different opinions.

Both of my sets of TE37's are powder coated. Are you referring to powder coating temps?

Paint or powder coat either way, value will drop on the wheels, which you are not concerned with correct? Regardless, they are TE37s...painting will chip known issue with paint, powder coating is far more stronger than paint but even with that, powder coat will chip.

if I could recommend I would offer up painting them.

Flat black like the old SR71

I have a set of 16imch TE37s on my 9. Got them at a very good price as they came off a scrapped FTO. Owner was more worried about how good the tyres were. When i got them back looked in the inside drum to confirm they were rays forged. They were originally white and was badly refurbed. Got them sand blasted and sprayed in a nice bronze. Could not believe my luck :)

Sprayed..?

So sand blasted and powder coated ? Got a pic of the finish my man ?

I like bronze, as long as it's Volk bronze.

The bronze accents the CW color perfectly.

agreed.

but i'll never ever get that finish unfortunately unless bought like that :(

volk/RAYS wheels are "strain/work hardened" during the forging process, from my understanding curing them at a high temperature for long enough could very well undo this and weaken the alloy. If i where you i would be very cautious when getting them done and try to get the company that is doing them to guarantee the curing temperature, anything over 200°C/400°F and i personally wouldn't risk it.
