Basically, im getting some new tyres, its usually a very easy decision but now ive started considering different makes etc...

the past 2 years ive been rolling VREDESTEIN SPORTRAC 3's

Great tyre... if not a bit soft on the side wall..
& Suprisingly grippy for a such a hard compound once warmed up!

Great in the dry, Great in the wet, Slow wearing, Very progressive as they loose grip, So overall a great road tyre. which im fairly confident with!

but now ive been told to try YOKOHAMA PARADA SPEC 2's

I know alot of people use theese and rate them very highly in the dry...

however... they are soft and wear very fast (so ive heard) Also apparently they have a semi slick compound on the outside so the first few hundred - 1000 miles it wares off and they go pretty poor ?? Also apparently they grip and grip and then BAM loose grip, not very progressive when loosing grip (once again only what ive read)

Does anyone have any experiences with theese?? Or can anyone recomond a good Road tyre with plenty of grip for the odd track day as my R888's are running very low and cant afford more yet.. will get some AD08's eventually but not yet!

Steve...... You usually have the answer to my questions.. what do you think?

All opinions reviews will be much appreciated!! :nice:

I used spec 2s on my old cliosport, did 2 half trackdays, a 15 min session at combe and around 10,000 road miles mostly hard cornering. So as you can see they dont last to badly.

I cant say I found the grip level snappy either as you could predict when understeer would happen and the rear was pretty much always planted.

Obviously if you abuse a normal driving style the rear will step out etc but fro track tyres and road there excellent.

As for wet weather they are ok, I never drove like an idiot in the wet to find out

hankook rs2's mate have them on my car and there great. They also got a better review than the parada's so id go for them ano the only thing id upgrade them to would be r888's

Been in an accord with hankook rs2's and they lack in grip compared to spec 2s.

flip i can drive my car on the limit without very little lack of grip lol but the parada's are rubbish in the wet as a dude up here had them an he was the reason i ended up going for the rs'2

Spec 2's are what im runing but been in a car with eagle f1's and they were grippy as f**k even in the wet, so thinking of trying them next

I have had PS2's on my previous Accord and they were on the EG6 when I purchased it. They are great in the dry, good in the wet but shocking in damp conditions. They just let go without warning!

I have got Vredesteins Sport trac 3's on a the moment which have been a great fast road tyre but they were only average on the track but @ £40 a corner fitted offer great value for money.

I'm having 4 x Toyo R1R's in 195/50/15's fitted on Saturday to replace the vredesteins as I destroyed the N/S front tyre @ Llandow circuit a few weeks back. The place local to me is doing them @ £75 a corner fitted which is a bargain. I will let you know how I get on with them.

:)

I really wanted to give the Kumho KU36 a go, but alas the local council has 'resurfaced' a lot of the roads I drive on and has all but obliterated them, creating a horribly harsh and abrasive surface which will chew threw tyres in a fraction of the time a normal asphalt surface will, and as such I am back with Eagle F1s on the front and Toyo T1Rs on the rear.

The Toyos are £25 a corner and represent fantastic value for money howver they are far from a briliiant performer.

I say give the KU36 a go.

Bridgestone RE050A FTW - standard fitment on a lot of supercars and high performance cars. And if I'm not mistaken standard fitment on every kind of Type R?

Also Falken FK452, cheaper but outperfrom a lot of premium tyres in a number of tests and reviews

Cheers guys,

Anymore opinions on the spec2's? i think im going to give them a try!

Hey dude! I heard bad things bout spec 2's aswell but i thought i'd form my own opinion. I've tried most tyres like toyo's etc but i was suprised how good spec 2's are! Go Jefferies dude £42 a corner, you can't go wrong. Done bout 5k tho mainly motorway miles on mine and they've hardly worn. Very good in dry and ok in wet but who drives stupid in the wet anyways? The grip is progressive and you can feel the limits when pushing hard. Only bad thing i've found is they're a little noisey but nowhere as much as your R888's lol. Catch up with you soon dude!

Have a read ove on ITR-DC2 forum about the PS2's as there are loads of threads regarding them over there.

Unless your only gonna use them in the dry i'd avoid like the plague.

:)

i may lookin into T1R's as they seem to have better overall write up, heard some relaly good and really bad reviews of spec 2's now :S

Why is this so hard, tyre choice is meant to be simple!! i think its the fact i want theese to go around the ring on, so want them to be as good as they can be! Cant be doing with paying the petrol of carrying another set of wheels over with me again to have the R888's on!

Michelin Pilot Exalto 2's get my vote all day long. Very durable, superb grip in the dry, and very good grip in the wet and predicatable. Cost a bit more than your T1R's and Spec 2's but I guess that's what you pay for. I run them, but so does my mate with his hybrid 300bhp Ibiza and he won't use anything else :)

whats your profile neil?
my T1R's are like £48 each
there a bargain and never let me donw around the ring last year
