Ever seen that advert "Just like a golf". Thats the situation you'll be in with the Jordan. Uprating your interior, engine, buying a diff, strengthening the chassis etc will be to make it drive "like an Ek9". Its better value for money to pay more for the EK9, than buy a Jordan and pay to get it to drive like one. Its false economy that a jordan is cheaper.
I got my Ek9 just after I turned 19 with a careless driving conviction and 5 points so Im not even sure the insurance arguement stands.
Jordans are still good cars, but I wouldn't compare them to a EK9, seems like a crazy arguement. Its like a 911 Carrera and a 911 GT3. Its a different kettle of fish completely.
