Ive just bought a turbo kit for my ek4 vti b16, and also i got forged piston with it, how much psi/hp will my bottom end handle? could any one help me? my civic is already running 184bhp proven, any help be great thanks

if you change your rods also and have a profesional tuning you can have 400hp-450hp

with a fully forged build you can run 600bhp and over, but its how far you want to push the stock sleeves. i personally would say 500bhp is a max for safety, you wouldnt want more in a road car anyway

b16b or b18c block with forged pistons/rods properly tuned 400whp or 480bhp safely.

400whp :O im not after that much lol, i be happy with 300-350 at the wheels, becuase then problems with traction, and im going to use it every day, so i think 400whp is bit to much for daily driver, how much standard rods will take does any one know?

ebay mate how is that?

eeee, if you bought one of those $600 turbo kits because those are absolute ****!!! You need at minimum a brand name turbocharger, wastegate, and proper EMS + Fuel system, the rest can be cheap chinese ****.

Not really have that much knowledge on turbo's, but wouldn't it be an idea to get a cheap Ebay kit, run that cheap turbo and when it's done for, have it rebuilt with proper internals?

The short answer is no.

The long answer: You will end up spending more money in the end and still have inferior parts, who will rebuild the turbo and with what parts? How much money will you waste welding cracks in the manifold over and over and over? How much money will it cost when the wastegate fails causing you to overboost and blowup your engine?

It is a bad idea, some people have success with these turbo kits, others end in failure, in fact most end in failure, i will only say i wish the OP the best of luck and with that i will leave this thread as i feel it is destined for failure...

oh no mate, its not on of them kits, its a second hand one, i went to check it first before i bought it, its got a t3 turbo, and another one from turbo technics with receipt to proff, tial wastegate, tokyo express headgasket, intercooler and all da pipe, ive seen them new kits on ebay and didnt like them at all, also i be sellin my skunk 2 inletmanifold and 70mm throttle body, and 4,2,1 exhaust manifold still shiney, and also AEM ram air induction but dont know if its a genuine one, it has a sticker on it that look original.

thats wa i bought with the kit

- INLET MANIFOLD

-SKUNK2 70MM RACING THROTTLE BODY (bsically brand new fitted it to my car 1 month before i pulled the engine out)

- CHROME AEM HIGH VOLUME FUEL RAIL

- STAGE 1 TURBO HIGH LIFT CAMS

- GENUINE SPOON SPORTS RACING HEADGASKET (can be reused up to 3 times.check out Japan Express America Inc.. it cost me £150)

- S.R.P LOW COMPRESSION RACING PISTONS

- OIL SANDWICH PLATE

- 2X BRAIDED OIL FEED LINES

- HEAT WRAPPED MANIFOLD (the tape alone cost me £80, worth every penny)

- TIAL HIGH PERFORMANCE EXTERNAL WASTEGATE

- DUMP VALVE (BOV)

- SPARE BRAND NEW XS POWER WASTEGATE

- INTERCOOLER

- T3/T4 AR.50 TURBO (this is the one that made 276bhp on the rollers)

- T3 TURBO TECHNICS FAST SPOOL TURBO (bought this off turbo technics £500.one that they had recond.never fitted it!)

- AIR FILTER AND VARIOUS PIPING

- HONDATA S200 ENGINE MANAGEMENT

- ECU

i would also like to know how much boost the totally standard engine can handle. and if ur doing the build yourself, how much for forged rods and pistons...and all the other stuff required for 400bhp. and help appreciated. cheers.

edit: i believe the b16a2 is much better for turbocharging/supercharging than the type r engines is this true also?

from what i heard its between 7-8 psi mate, and as for forged rods and pistons brand new you looking about £800+, but then obviously you got to upgrade the clutch, 4bar fuel regulator, and you need good mapping session, ive picked the turbo kit very cheap and i was lucky to win it, the only bits im missing now are, downpipe, intercooler pipes, and clutch, but im not 100% sure if im gona go ahead with puttin the kit on, might sell the car with it.

Hi mate

this info i got from a tuner when i was asking him about turboing my b16 he said the safest psi is 5 on stock internals any high is a risk but its up to you if you want to increase it by 1 or 2 psi. good luck with the project let us know how you get along
