hahaha, thank you  luckily we have a Forced Induction forum as soon as i saw thats what this thread was it i jumped in :) first i suggest you establish a budget, then i will give you my opinion from there :nice: i added "turbo" to his heading

not sure of budget mate but would be looking for about 360 to 400 bhp just needing a basic list of things needed to turbo the 9 any info would be great

its not that simple but if you insist on not giving me a budget im just gonna give an answer that might not be right for you. there are a lot of different ways to get 360-400bhp, i have 380bhp and you dont wanna know how much ive spent... :angry2:

Id think your talking at least £3k to get a turbo on, mainly costs a lot becuase you will probably need custom pipework. If you want 360-400BHP your talking a bit more £££ as I wouldn't want it done without forged internals.

Seriously, it would be loads cheaper to buy one already done and swap anything on your current car you want to keep across.

i dont have forged internals and i have 380bhp. and thats on crappy california 91 octane fuel ;)

Cool. Is it safe?

It should be yes!I know of a couple of ppl here in SA who run close to 300whp on stock D15's and D16's.The B16B is alot stronger and should be able to handle that even with the high CR.Also seen some guys running 15psi on stock B16A6.

I maintain my opinion that a turbocharged car is only as reliable as the tuner is.If you have enough fuel meaning large enough injectors so that the motor wont run lean then its up to the tuner to make it run properly and reliably.

well im actually now using a b16a block with LS pistons with grinded down valve reliefs and a .050 headgasket so my compression is down to 8.3 which helps A LOT, especially with our low grade fuel in california :( the motor isent forged but its not stock either :) it was a test i did, weve run as high as 25psi on the motor and it holds, but i normally drive around on 15psi from a gt30r im down to 12right now though due to some minor issues.

Is that 380bhp at the wheels?
bhp is like flywheel HP, im making 333whp at 12psi.

unless you have 110+octane fuel its going to melt a piston, i melted a piston on my b16b with 100octane and i was at 10psi, with compression that high you need VERY high octane fuel and a perfect/conservative tune which is just too touchy for my taste. i like an agressive tune and my low compression lets me do that.

Ah, thats why...I was wondering how you managed that with the CR of the B16B block, reducing it to 8.3 would help loads so its more understandable now.

hi again guys am guessing ma budget would be around 4k

ok, well thats not a bad budget, here is what you will need and the parts i recomend:

-turbo manifold like Meutek
-a turbo, something like a GT3071R
-downpipe
-intercooler and piping
-a wastegate like a tial 38mm
-a bov like a tial 50mm
-fuel injectors 750cc RC should be good.
-some sort of ems like: AEM, hondata, Fcon, Power FC.
-uprated fuel pump like walbro 255lph.
-boost gauge anything but autometer they are junk!

not needed but highly recomended:
-fuel pressure gauge
-arp head studs
-a thicker head gasket to drop the compression or low compression pistons.
-to keep cost down you could have the intercooler piping and downpipe custom made at a muffler shop.
-3" exhaust.

here is a list of what i used on my old setup just for refrence:
-meutek turbo manifold (flat black ceramic coated) from www.meutek.com
-turbonetics ball bearing t3/t04e turbo from RaceSpecialists.com (flat black ceramic coated)
-custom 3" v-band downpipe (flat black ceramic coated)
-KMS-FAB 5-bolt to v-band adapter
-custom intercooler piping (flat black ceramic coated)
-PWR intercooler
-greddy type RS bov from RaceSpecialists.com
-Tial 38mm wastegate with custom extension neck and dump tube (flat black ceramic coated)
-AEM EMS stand alone engine management system with build in uego
-AEM serial data gauge
-ARP head studs
-3" exhaust
-greddy oil block adapter
-greddy oil catch can
-spal slim fan
-aftermarket 2" radiator
-750cc RC fuel injectors
-walboro fuel pump
-NGK BKR7EIX iridium spark plugs
-stock head gasket
-stock exhuast manifold gasket
-hondata intake manifold gasket
-ACL rod/main bearings (engine needed fresh bearings due to accidental over-rev)

my new setup has the following parts upgraded:
-turbo is now a GT3076R
-intercooler is now a APEXi GT spec
-WasteGate is now a Tial 44mm
-Manifold is not Equal lenth
-BOV is soon to be upgraded to a Tial Q 50mm.

i may be selling my old parts in the future if your intrested, the turbo is currently being rebuilt by turbonetics...

cheers for the info mate will get start when a get back from vegas
