hi. im considering going turbo on my ek9, its stock b16b at the moment. was looking at making around 300 hp hopefuly on stock internals to start with. which turbo/ecu etc do u guys think i should use?? and is around 300hp possible on a stock engine? any help appreciated:)
 
I dont think so mate 300 hp with stock internals especially a b16b not going to happen or last long. What you need is a b18c4 with forged internal and t3/t4 garrat turbo and with ecu any really as you will need to do a custom map for the set up so ecu will have to be chiped.
 
yea i was thinking of using b18c4 mate. was going to sell my b16b to fund it. do u not think wiyh lower comp headgasket th b16b would be ok at low boost?
 
Yeah bud you should be ok with B18c4, if you fit a thicker head gasket. I just wouldnt go crazy on the boost you should be able to get 300 or atleast high 200s. And you will notice it...

Sell the 16b for £££ and buy a 16a for pennies. Then boost it :nice:
 
Im running a bog stock b18c4, 10psi on a .60 trim T4 Garret, mapped on crome and its knocking on the door of 340bhp and has been trouble free for the last 8 months!!!
You do not need to forge the bottom end for 300bhp!!!! If its tuned right it will be fine ;)
 
Yea think im gana sell my b16b and buy a decent b18c4. How much and wat type of turbo kits u gt fr sale mate?
 
Be careful because with the b18c4 the intake manifold is pretty much useless, so you will need a standard b16a/b b18 intake manifold or after market. putting that power down to you are gonna need a gearbox with a diff, which the c4 has and or you could use your s4c, :) plenty to think about tho when boosting
 
why are you going to sale your b16b when you can always build yours get a b18 or b20 crank and bump the 1.6 to 1.8 you going to need forged internals anyways
 
another thing its the with the b18c4 you will need to update a lot stuff manifolds
cams and someothers internal also the cylinder head off the b18c4 its not to good they need port valves,springs,reteiners etc
 
All of the above is toss!!! The inlet manifold is all ive replaced and it makes 336 bhp atw so for the power hes looking at he doesnt need cams and all that other shite!!
The b16a, b18 type r and b16b inlet doesnt fit, the stud pattern and water outlet is different. You will need one from skunk or blox

i think i prob wil end up using the b18c4. wil my b16b head bolt on the b18 block ?
i was thinking of using it for the intake manifold etc so i dont hav to replace that aswell. i will be happy with around 300hp at th moment,may uprate pistons and rods in the future for more power!:))
 
You can use the b16b head, but the valves are thinner and the squish band isnt as good as the b18c4 head. Id sell the b16b complete, and the inlet
Manifold minus the throttle body as this can still be used, buy a complete b18c4 for like 4-500 quid, an inlet mani for 200 and away you go!!! Thats what i did and its the best move i could of took! Its savage lol
 
sounds like a plan t me. il sell th whole thing and get a decent b18c4. which turbo kit u using mate?
 
Its one i bought off member on here, its not a kit but mote a combination of quality parts. Id go for a Race-Tech kit if i was in the market for one though, they are good and have warrenty and UK made :)
 
yea i have looked at those kits. there was a guy on here selling 1 for around 1300 and even said hed fit it for 1500.:D iv just baught a b18c4 engine,70mm throttle body and walbro fuel pump. im looking at those skunk 2 manifolds an thicker headgasket at th moment. shouldnt be long!!:D
 
I wouldnt bother with the headgasket, stock compression is fine if the tune is decent. Mines bog stock, havnt swapped to arp geadstuds or nothing. :)
These honda engines are well built dood ;)
 
yea i was thinking of just keeping it stock and just seeing what happens!lol would save a bit cash 2!:) phoned race tech today for a price,just need to sell my b16b!
 
cant believe your selling your b16b i would rather spend the extra on the pistons than sell it and put that engine in cant you just run low compression on the b16b i.e. 6 psi 270 bhp untill you forge it ???
