toyo r1r vs. yoko ad08

I've not driven on R1Rs but after seeing how quickly they wear, I'm not sure I would bother. Yes, they'll offer a little more grip but they'll also be toast after 2 trackdays. My AD08s still looked brand new after a trackday at Brands Indy.

My r1r got through 2 days and 6 months of driving.

I've had both but on different cars. R1r got good grip but they are soft as already said. Ad08 good grip and they last ages,
Did 2full days at brands Indy. 1 evening at brands Indy and 10 laps of the ring and still had like half life left

Went for ad08 in the end. Loving them so far. Excellent grip in corners. Sidewalks a little thin but awesome grip!

Advans id say will last longer than t1rs and r888. How much have you sourced them for?

I was thinking about using ad08 on the front and r1r on the rear. Any thoughts on that?

I'd say never mix tyres
It will make the car unpredictable when you push it. Some what dangerous.
Keep the tyres the same.
If your not planning on pushing the car then don't bother with those kinda tyres
I have basically new R1Rs for those looking for them.

I don't agree, it is dangerous to have different tyres on the same axle, but should be ok front/back? It is very common in all kinds of motorsport to run different tyres at the front and different at the rear. My theory here is that the R1Rs are softer, hence should get up to temp quicker at the rear, but could overheat easily at the front where all the acceleration and most of the breaking/turning happens. The AD08s are a bit harder and should work a bit better there. That's just my opinion and theory tho, I could be wrong of course :D

A softer tyre doesn't mean it overheats easier mate :)
I'd stick to same all round personally

Yes true. However I don't think it is as simple as that and I would definatly not mix them.
Afterall different tyres have different characteristics. Some you can get close to the limit and they will slowly tell you they are about to go some will just go. Do you really think you will he able to tell that while driving quickly front to back. Especialy as you feel most of the car through the wheel so you will feel the front more. Ask any of the guys on here that track their cars and I'm sure they would say the same.
What size are you looking for?

been driving on ad08's (195 55 15) daily for a couple of months now. excellent grip in the dry and good grip in the wet (i dont drive harder than 80- 90 kmph into bad corners in the wet anyway but id say they would take em at 110 - 120 if i wanted to but would start to slip). there much better than my bfgoodrich profiler 2 tyres i had previously. for wet trackdays where you would be pushing it i would use other tyres but overall great tyres for what they are. they are heavy though so now im on the look out for lighter wheels

I was gunna say r1rs is the ones to go for, I think they are better for track and the ad08 is more on the road side

I agree :)
There's some for sale in the forsale section ;D
