Hi guys
Just bought a set of toyo r1r 195/50/15

They feel great, going to try them at oulton pk soon.

Anyone try them yet?

If they are new on track they will turn to **** in about 3 laps!!!! Mine did anyway lol

Yep, don't take them on track till you have 500 miles on them. Tread is super deep.

These are known to wear quickly, but that all depends on ones driving style; some are better on tires over other people.

stole this from TireRack.com:
Tires are comprised of many layers of rubber, steel and fabric. Due to these different components, your new tires require a break-in period to ensure that they deliver their normal ride quality and maximum performance. As tires are cured, a release lubricant is applied to prevent them from sticking in their mold. Some of the lubricant stays on the surface of your tires, reducing traction until it is worn away. Five hundred miles of easy acceleration, cornering and braking will allow the mold release lubricant to wear off, allowing the other tire components to begin working together. It is also important to note that your old tires probably had very little tread depth remaining when you felt it was time to replace them. As any autocrosser or racer who has tread rubber shaved off of his tires will tell you, low tread depth tires respond more quickly. Don't be surprised if your new tires are a little slower to respond (even if you use the exact same tire as before). Their new, full depth brings with it a little more tread squirm until they wear down.

NOTE: Be careful whenever you explore the capabilities of your new tires. Remember that every tire requires a break-in period of 500 miles for optimum performance.

Thanks for the advice.
Will bed them in the weekend.

Always wanted to try the R1R, had the T1R's on my car for 18 months before they wore out!

Good tyres, had a set on my old 9, used them on track once, worked well for me. I did not find they wore quick on the road either.

@bipbip216, try them, MUCH better tyre than T1R, no comparison!

good tyres for the price, so are the T1r's but they are both too soft in my opinion, cant wait to try some R888's though heard some great things!

They look like a nice all round tyre, would like to try them out but from ehat I have found they seem quite pricy, about the same a a trackday specific tyre (888,ao48)

if you looking for a track tyre go straight to 888's
they have harder side wall and the tread is better for Dry track days.

I use 888s for Dry sessions and R1Rs for wet sessions.

yer I got them to and geniunly really felt a diffrence. before I used T1Rs SO happy I changed and I dont really do alot of track there good for daily use :)

correct me if am wrong but r1rs arent produced for lauches?? that equals they will have soft walls so no no no fo rtrack!!

from harder side wall to softer

888 >r1r >t1r

888 and r1r are close compared to t1r on wall hardness.

floppy as **** in corners unless u get a low profile. i'm staying away from them. for the money i think prada sepc2's are better.
