It is almost that time of the year again. That time of the year when I have saved enough money from my deployments to the war in Afghanistan, and think about getting a new engine.
I currently have a D16Y7 in my Civic, and it is ready to die. The car had a front end collision (from previous owner) and ever since then the engine was over heating, so I put a new cylinder head in. The engine still heats up now, just not as fast. I could go maybe 50-100 miles before I have to stop due to the heat. After all I dont want to blow the engine. This leads me to believe that the block is either warped or cracked. Either way its time for a new engine.
My current budget is from $500-$2000USD which leaves me a couple of choices.
Alas! poor Yorick, I knew him well.

- Buy another D16Y7 or Y8 (VTEC). Also cant find one for under $1000USD!
- Buy a B15A1 for about $1000-$2000. Thought I saw one for cheaper on EBay? Oh well...
- Drive around the D16Y7 till it blows, save up my money for about 3 months, buy a slightly used B18C.
