ok guys I've been doing a build. Full engine rebuild b18c and full respray. Car is a 2000 ej9. Was well put together but was showing its age.

Long story short since rebuilding, the speedo on the s2k cluster stopped working. All other displays are fine but speedo reads zero.

It has a whiteford Davies Motorsport unit for the fuel and temp gauges and a speedohealer.

The healer has 12 volt in and Earth. Speedo input and out put. Basically I get the signal from the vss in so no worries there. However I seem to be getting a 4.6volt output from the vss input on the cluster. As in if I disconnect the in and outputs for speedo from healer I have 4.6v from vss and 4.8 from cluster.

Surely this is an internal cluster problem?

Is it an AP1 cluster? I was running the same set up in my previous EK9. Still have all the bits. You're welcome to try my cluster to see if it's that.

couple of things you could check, the quality of the Earth at the cluster.
Anything over 0.1v it's a bad earth.
Also if you know the inputs to the dash you could check the dash for resistance/ continuity :nice: that way you could confirm the dash is at fault.

So your getting voltage from the INPUT on the cluster?
Sounds like a cluster issue to me. Shouldn't be getting voltage out of an input with nothing attached to it?

Ok so tried another cluster and speed healer and it's the same. I'm getting voltage out the input and no speedo reading. Wtf is going on here?

We got any botched wiring behind the cluster at all? Or at the ecu?

Did we find this in the end?

Bad earth from where you painted?
Am also interested if you got it fixed.
