Got a knee op on the 31st Aug, did not expect such short notice from the NHS. Quite nervous actually that how they are going to rebuild my knee. Surgeon suggests it will be about 6 weeks rehabilitation. Has anyone been in a similar situation? what did you do? read books n stuff? not really a book worm! just will need something to pass some time but also productive lol.

Could get some Banzai/Jap car mags but then you might end up getting inspiration and buying loads of parts lol

learn to play an instrument, start playing chess, xbox, forza 4, cod etc... i've gift you some cars in forza to get you going!

Buy an Xbox and play COD until your eyeballs bleed.

:nice: time flys on cod, long as its not mw3 which is the worst game in the history of gaming

i bought myself a airbrush kit few months ago when i had no work on, its great fun and made a few quid doing different things for mates.. im not really into art but you can do some really cool stuff with one, youtube proves this :)

my mate got hit by a jetski in thailand last year and literally snapped his leg in two, he was unable to do much for 4 months. he bought a games console and did plenty of reading apart from that mate you just have to be patient

Thanks dudes! Might just stare out the window and watch the civic rust and update the forum while im at it haha :p Nah I'll prob put Forza on in fact. Not touched the ps3 or 360 in yonks! It's gonna be so borezzz tho..can't wait till this is over! Argggghhh

Ive had my ACL done 2 times now and each time ,ive done it i start straight back into rehab as to keep the leg muscle from wasting away.i also started reading some sports auto biographys to keep me motivated.
Also playing the playstation and so on .

What you getting done?

I'm getting the ACL done as well. wow how did you manage to pick up the injury? I used to play football 3 times a week 5,7 & 11s :\ went in for a tackle, funnily missed the guy and the leg was side ways and the knee clicked.

Ever since I just did running and never really found the confidence to play intensive sports as I couldn't like, side step because of the stability of the knee..

How long was rehab for you?

I was playing gaelic football.Dont know if you know it its like aussie rules ,similar setup to soccer with a bit basketball thrown in.

I went up to catch a high ball and landed awkwardly landing very heavily im 6,2 15 stone knee twisting one way my body going another, tearing everything ACL,PCL and also my mcl in the process alot of my cartilage had to be removed also as there was alot of grating in behind the knee cap.

My first op wasnt a sucess when i went to flex knee and the straighten it there was a bad click as if the joints were not moving correctly together problem was that supposedly the ligament graph wasnt sucessful in sufficently tighten up the knee so had to get it redone again by a different surgeon.

I havent played field sports since but i do kickboxing 3/4 times a week .i wouldnt feel comfortable playing fiels sports again but thats just me.

im currently trying to strenghten up my legs ,but am finding it very hard to build muscle.

jesus! i was told by my surgeon today that I'll be getting my ACL rebuilt? and probably my cartilage but the decision will be made at the time when he's it. then he will be "making tunnels" in my knee and pull the ham strings through or something along those lines.

what exercises are you doing to build? squats and stuff?

Drug's?? J/K come one, someone had to say it.... :p

Haha why not? you only get to live once :p i think i'll just get boozed every night till i turn into a grumpy **** :)

haha! cheers man! yeah I'll find something to do, will prob give reading a try. Not lifted a book since high school haha!

may I ask what kind of injury your knee was? and how long were you out for?

Ive been in a similar situation but with my hand, not as serious I guess in terms of muscle loss and inability to move about the place but I was at risk of infection and been unable to bash my hand etc, but I do understand not been able to walk about too much as I sliced half my big toe off once whilst at work and was unable to walk about for awhile.

Advice so far is perfect. But try not to stagnate in a room with the curtains closed playing games all day etc. I found myself just sitting in a room watching movies and playing Forza/Halo/CoD all day, sometimes not washing for a day or two lol... and my sleeping pattern went to hell, makes you feel like crap and that you have wasted the day! See if you can grab some fresh fruit everyday and keep the window open whilst playing games, get up in the morning and freshen up before getting some intense CoD/Forza on the go, will make you feel better.

If your into PC gaming, Guild Wars 2 is out soon and that will keep you busy and entertained, whilst not been as repetitive as CoD etc.

Good Luck!

Youporn , redtube , x hamster .
