Hi guys,

finally got round to uploading my in-car footage of the fateful afternoon:

YouTube - knockhill integra crash

Lesson learned - don't take a bog standard car to Knockhill on Jap tyres and stay out for more than 3 laps at a time!

Managed to get my hands on a mint Integra shell to swap everything over, so building it from scratch as a dedicated track car now with roll cage, cams, ITB's and lots of other goodies :D

Feedback welcome, as always :)

Faz.

just wondering what tyres r u using?,what were your tyre pressure? i don't think all jap tyres are crap. maybe u should try better performance tyres like yokohama ad07,a048.
i've tried the ad07 which is superb in the dry.

Strange accident, glad you got out from it ok. :)

Damn!!!!! Glad your both ok, when the tyres started to loose grip i think my arsehole would have stopped me there and then lol

Wow...that looks totally weird...just when your car is straightening out it suddenly breaks out :(( :nerv:

Did you just clip that slippery bit on the floor? Not sure what its called the normally red and while bit in the bends. I hope you and your brother was alright.

Look at the passenger/driver during the hit... I think both helmets came
in collision... Easy to see why racing seat/harness/roll bar are the way
to go for serious tracking. Even with a full harness everything strech a lot (more than you think )

That's a sad end for a type R, wish you more fun with the next one.

its quite a tricky section of track and has claimed many a car for those not familiar with knockhill - r33 skyline went off here in last years time attack too

damn! that was an unfortunate accident I notice the Passenger was a girl?.. correct me if im wrong any relation to you man? she kinda flew out of the seat in impact... didnt she hold on to anything :S, but yeah hope all is well and good luck with the next project ^^

Actually, it's best to totally relax while being in a crash.

It was his little brother.

From Civiclife:
Thankfully my lil bro wasn't seriously injured - despite the helmet that Knockhill gave him coming off his head
He had some cuts and bruises, and a sore neck for a week or so!

several important points to make:

1) Did you not have a set of new or recent track capable tyres for the day like R888s? normal street tyres burn out too quick.

2) and most importantly, why the hell did you take your kid along! Track days can be dangerous, that was irresponsible. If it was my little brother - they would be wearing harnesses and one of those neck brace things as well as a helmet. Just because its a Type-R, that doesnt mean you can just drive it on the track without careful preparation
