Terry’s EM1 project

Your local Honda would be able to sort you. I just bought them from Japan because its cheaper than local, and I was buying a few bits, so shipping wasn't a deal breaker for me.

The climate control is all OEM bulbs and the clocks I had changed to LED. Only the illumination though. All the warning lights are still incandescent.
Cheers mate :)

Small update.

I'm still having issues with the car breaking up, in the higher rev range. From 6,000 onwards. Swapped out the distributor rotor for a new one from Honda. Couldn't fit the new cap I got because it didn't fit.
Later on I found out I have a Type R distributor and there are different style caps available... Will have to order another one from Honda  Instead of replacing the cap, I sanded the points on the inside, to get rid of any oxidation. That unfortunately didn't work and the issue is progressively getting worse.
While I try to piece together an order for Honda, I bought a brand new ignition coil and a brand new igniter. Those are on the way and I'll hopefully have them this week.

I've had the car since December 2021. The heater never really worked. As in my windscreen would get fogged up from the cold and the heater would only clear up a small patch on the glass. Replaced the pollen filter and look at this...

The old filter was completely clogged and installed the wrong way. The airflow direction was pointed the opposite way. There was a lot of debris inside the dash and I vacuumed as much as I could. Heres the new filter.

Loving the progress man, i never even knew the ek platform came with a cabin filter every days a school day

Not much of an update, but an update nonetheless. Was fighting with an ignition issue. I bought a NGK replacement coil.

That didn't fix the issue. I actually bought an igniter too, but it turned out to be the wrong one... My car is OBD2, but it needs an OBD1 igniter? Makes sense haha. I have a really rough relationship with this car.

I'll try get her painted next year. People actually like this look, but I got sick of it really fast, especially when I daily the car. I managed to get a brand new distributor cap from Honda, which ended up sorting my ignition problem.

I have another cap in storage, but that one doesn't fit and a Type R one does. Good to know, but at my expense  I have the correct igniter on the way from A4H, as well the weather cover that sits inside the distributor. I didn't know the Type R one is different from B16A2. I have the O ring for the distributor too, so I'll pretty much have the whole thing refreshed. Get the timing done and maybe solve a small oil leak.

Something I've noticed recently is the car kinda hiccups when accelerating. Can't be ignition again, after I just sorted it! It happens when I drive the car cold. Problem disappears when its fully warm. Maybe its the ambient temperature? Because it has gotten colder lately, coming into winter.

For context, I'm running 5W-40 oil, roughly a 30:70 coolant mixture, and pump fuel. I swapped out the fuel filter not that long ago and haven't done that much mileage. The air filter is free of debris. Maybe its my injectors? But I don't see how the cold might affect it.

Anyway, the car drives absolutely fine when warm, but its something that I can't ignore. Also, I'm flying to Hong Kong today, so the Civic will be left alone for a month  I got my brother to look after it. Hopefully I find some nice bits over there, to bring back :D

Respect for all the love and car you put into this, makes for a wonderfull story considering who was the previous owner.

About the ignition problems, you could checl all mass points from the engine on both sides. It wouldn't explain why it mostly happens when cold, but I once had problems with the car breaking up in high rpm's and in the end it was one of the mass cables that had a loose bolt.

Oh right, earth, I had a feeling I was using the wrong term. But translation websites didn't do so well either :D

I'll check them when I'm back in the country. How many are there for this chassis and engine configuration?

I really don't know to be honest. Back then I grabbed a workplace manual from Honda. But I would expect them all to be servicable from the top. I would expect perhaps 3-4 at most? But again, that was quite a while ago :)

I so need to change my cabin air filter now that you mention this but beautiful build bro, love the progress and safe travels to Hong Kong.
