taking a different approach to tuning

Skunk2 intake manifold is a type r copy, why would you change the stock intake manifold for a Skunk2 intake manifold? Do you think having a Skunk2 logo on the intake manifold is going to make you more power?

:jackson:

Its a nicer casting with marginally better design for flow to the first runner. it will make more power than a stock ITR manifold...

but not much!

^^^it will? how much more WHP/Tq are you talking about?

3-5 IME I went from stock to Skunk2 IM and 68mm TB and picked up about 5 bhp, went back to oem tb and dropped I think 2bhp, it was all at the very top of the range. The difference is very small but the S2 parts are better than OEM. There is certainly more metal in them if you want to start chopping and porting out though ;)

why try so hard to prove things...relax.. have fun ..isnt that the point of tuning and not to show and prove others wrong..

3hp? Not worth it at all. Would be better off opening up OEM and expanding it over buying a Skunk2 manifold and opening that up.

Yep, but then if you are going to go to the effort of porting out, the skunk 2 would be a better base to start with. The difference is minimal and the S2 is heavily based on the OEM typeR manifold but a lot of people say they are the same and they are not!

they are the same to me.

I'm sure if you tested 100 ITR intake manifolds you would find some that give 3bhp more than average and some that are less. Therefore your test on the skunk2 manifold tells me nothing really except that it is not worth the cash just for a bit of brand whoring.

Just think to yourself.... How long have people been tuning N/A's now.. How long in particular have people been tuning B series...

No offence dude, But you have to be pretty Dam arrogant to think doing something different is going to be better.

personally it seems to me you are "Trying hard" to be different instead of actually using your head ( no pun intended ) and Tuning the engine with what works best.

You seem to think that the hours upon hours, not to mention the £££££ spent testing certain parts by reputable companies that work on B series engines..... is all for nothing ??

yet you come in here with the opinion that you are doing something "different" "new" and "revolutionary" ????...... yet you say things like "I aint a expert on type r's"

I'm sorry sir, but if you think you are going to be taken seriously... You're on the wrong forum..

I have a different approach to tuning as well, plan on using pigeons as i found their arses are twice as explosive as petroleum..... Combined with an aggressive map ;-)

It looks like I'm late to the party gentlemen. Can I still join in ???
