As title,

Pretty foreign territory I imagine, but i'm planning to use a crower crank (98mm) to stroke my B20 to around 2.2 to 2.3 L

After any advice/information...

Will I need to make adjustments to my block to cater for such a large stroke? P2V Clearance?

You'll need to purchase it and make your own measurements. Make sure you get the right rods and pistons to go with the crank. They'll need to be custom unless you can get the lot as a kit. You can't just stick a 98mm crank in there with stock sized rods and pistons.

Dont forget your running a b16b block, unless your planning on getting a b20b/z etc

Not sure if all the block heights are all the same, just thought it may be another factor to consider

Gerry from Performance Tek in Glasgow has built a B22 prob be a good idea to contact him.

That's what I thought... Brian Crower do a stroker kit for the B16b/b18c block.

I think the stroker kit to convert the b18 to 2 litre is the same kit for turning the b20 into a 2.2.

Thanks for the heads up guys, I been reading into abit more - I think purely for reliability purposes i'm sticking with the B18C crank and just going wild with cams and ITB's.

Cheers all!

part of me thought this would be a picture of you caressing your B20 ;)

I'd love to have a 2.2 B20.. = super tourque :)

I do that often topher !!

I'd love a 2.2 / 2.3 B series but with all the extra stress placed on the rods and **** I really can't be assed, costs so much from where i'm at, and wazer did a good job up till now so i'm not gonna mess that up!!

Rich777, in the event that i possibly DID consider boosting it lol, what power are the darton MID sleeves rated for? I know i'd have to drop out the 13;1 comp pistons maybe for some mahle 9;1 and strap a GT3076R to it!

600+ easily with that bottom end setup. Like you said all you would need to change is the pistons and maybe a hone, but the bore looked great last time i checked :). Im not even sure if hone is needed if you were to change pistons... A question to the pros that :p

Was advised to sleeve just incase i a deceided to boost in future. I would probably supercharge if it were me tho.

Edit: The garage which built the engine did another build exactly the same for boost, it made 376whp on 15psi iirc. was scary in a near stock eg! :-(

600 holy smokers! The engine is in fantastic condition mate its been faultless - i've put 1000 miles on it in a week and its just eaten them up!

The noise it makes NA those is wild and its just such a drivable car!! Romain at eurospec was saying what an epic engine it was to make the power it did with stock valvetrain!!

376whp thats ridiculous!

You'd need to replace the pistons to the next size up and rebore. If you know your EXACT cylinder size then you maybe able to order a set of the same size pistons and have a slight rebore (.0015+). The thing what's on your side if you were to buy the same sized pistons is that this is a NA setup. There for the piston to cylinder clearance will be tighter than what you'd typically come across on a FI setup so you could just rebore a tad to suit.

I was just kidding about going turbo ;) NA has its place and the one thing for sure is that you can't beat the response.

P.S. damn I missed the question - the block will handle more power than you'll be able to put down .

Good going! :-D, thats the best bit about it imo - reliability. Get some decent itbs, proper NA sound, more torque, better throttle response. Win! ;-)

:D yeh its certainly a well though-out setup! I did briefly look at jenvey ITB's they seem to do a good package but its trying to determine what diameter and length runner i would need? I can imagine the noise is even more insane!

i say stay na mate. car pulls great already....cams and intake will make it potent!

You need to speak to someone that has a lot of experience behind them with setting up ITB's on a B series. If you get it wrong you'll wish you never went down that road... They need to be selected/setup professionally ideally...
