I know this has been covered so many times and ive read so many threads trying to understand but i jus hav some qs as im planning on doind it soon....
If i just get a b18c block and put my head on it and tune it...is this the best way to do it to get the most power or what is the best way? Or do i keep my pistons? Im lookin for as much power as i can get....
I probably wil have 1-2k to spend
Any advice wil help alot
Thanks

i'm doin this at the minute:

i am keeping my b16b block , puttin in itr rod, pistons and crank.

you can use your b16b pistons but compression be mad high and 95ron fuel wont be very gud if comp is 12.

the easiest way is to get b18c block with internals in it and slap on b16b head.
the b16b block is sameas the b18c so its realy wat tyou prefer: buying a block or building your own.

civic-joe has fullybuilt b18 block for sale

If I ever stroke my engine I'll be using my block with the itr bits. Fresh rings, bearings etc.

Seems to be a better choice IMO.

where is a place that i could find the itr crank, rods, pistons?????????

and also once is it in my car what do i need to do? does it need to be tuned and balance? (how do you balance it yourself)?

it is very hard to find the crank seperate from the block, just buy a b18c block and tansfer the internals over, the crank etc will already be balanced from facrory and can go straight in, just make sure to use new piston rings and bearings that are within spec. As far as tuning you can just use a b18c ecu and it will run fine unless your looking for slightly more power in which case a tuneable ecu such as hondata or crome is what you want but do not use the maps that come with hondata as they are simply crap. Tried using the 2001 itr map on mine and it lost alot of power top end.

thanks for the reply's lads! would anyone advise using b16b pistons in the b18 block?
And how much is a b18c block?

@obrienej6: how much is civic-joe looking for it?

personally i would use forged pistons over b16b, but i believe they can work, just make sure you run it on 98ron and a good ecu map to help prevent det. I have seen the results of high comp on a bad map and it tends to result in bad things, e.g. Holes in pistons

No way, this is just a cheap and chearful way of going about it. If you want a high comp B18C then do it properly with a set of forged pistons.

As for price i'm guessing around £450-600 depending on the condition of the block.

Thanks...what pistons and rods would you advise to get?
