Well before i start modding, im gonna get my Standard EK9 dyno'd tomorrow..

I understand after 11 years it would have lost a few hp. What should i be expecting 165-170hp??

thats what i was expecting when i got mine done but at the fly apparently it was 195 but since then i have been told it was probably a 'happy' dyno! so that what i think the average is, let us know what you get.

You were probably told its a "happy Dyno" from someone whos had their 9 RR'd and got less power than you

very few make the claimed 185, whats more important is how it feels and drives

dependant on brand of the dyno will give you different figures.
there are optimistic dynos and more realistic dynos.
As said though, as long as it drives well thats all that matters

The stock 185hp would be at the flywheel though wouldn't it. I mean given the percentage of drivetrain power loss, wheel horsepower should be around 160ish. I've seen this stock 160whp posted time and time over here on this site from CTR's.

Result from today :nice:

Torque reading looks like a rollercoaster what gives? Why does it dip so low...48-49ft lbs @ 5200? Were you coasting the throttle through this dyno session? This can't be at all correct for a CTR.

I didnt run the car on the dyno, it was a 4th gear run, it could be the reason why the dip in torque?

I dont think this is true...i may be wrong but im sure the Sir and Vti are both the same, they have the same B16A2 and same ECU

the jdm sir engine has slightly higher output than the vti engine,

higher compression is the main reason.

iirc

torque does look quite low! should be around 120 or so bud.

my mate "neiller" on here has been on that same dyno, was 184bhp or so with
exhaust and crappy filter.
put it back on with mugen intake, spoon mani,exhaust,4.7 final drive and made 198bhp!

as long as your car drives well pal,ive been on quite a few rollers over here and take them with pinch o salt as said, difference of 8bhp one day...same rollers and same mods :secret:

I dont want to cause any arguments but I have read on many sites that the standard EK9 puts out;

185PS which converts to 182 BHP. Minor difference but its the accurate power output!

Josh..

the ek9 was measured is ps not bhp, same as the clio 172 which actually makes 169 bhp. roughly ek9s should be 180-182 bhp.also had my car on rollers at ai autosport , made 198.3bhp and 119.0 lbft of torque , rollers only good if you stick to same one . the fella who owed the 9 before me had given me the ai print out when it had top fuel intake and exhaust , then it had 182.8 bhp and 111.2 lbft of torque . since then i have added spoon mani ,de-cat , mugen intake , m-factory 4.785 final drive and a lightened fly wheel . the last two items made the biggest difference on the road .

eternal blue 2000 and josh were too quick there for me , aint too quick at the old typing (dick fingers) :)
