So I've had the SRS light on a while now, tried a reset and it comes back on straight away.
I've pulled the code and it seems a bit strange from the research done online and on the forum....
I pulled out the SRS connector under the dash which goes into the dummy holder and did the paper clip trick...
The code that came up is as follows: light on for initial bulb check 6.5s, off for 4.5s, on for 1.2s (which is the code i understand), off for 2s, then back on for good....

The odd thing is i only get this one, 1.2s flash then the pause then the light back on solid, it doesn't repeat as all the research tells me it is meant too?
1-1 and 1-2 is 'open or increased resistance in drivers airbag inflator'......but is this the code I'm getting?

Any help would be really appreciated as its doing my nut in!:angry2:

Is the horn working? If it's not then the clock spring inside the steering wheel is gone and needs to be replaced. Happened to me a couple of years ago and SRS light went off after replacing the clock spring and reset the SRS light with the paper clip thingy.

Thanks for the reply....yes the horn is still working, I have tried to use a resistor to trick the system the clock spring is working, the resistor was not exactly right but very close, I did the reset and it didn't work, might have been me though.....
Might get a steering wheel and clock spring to see if this is the problem, but costly if its not the reason!! :nono:

The reset procedure can take a few tries to get the timing just right. I found it to be easier by using a length of speaker wire(or similar) with the ends of both leads stripped. This gives you enough length to be comfortably positioned while watching the SRS light and connecting/disconnecting the leads.
Here's the procedure I've used just to verify:
1) With the ignition off, insert one end of the speaker wire leads into the MES plug(one into each contact), touch(short) the other end of the leads together.
2) Turn the ignition on(key position II/do not start the car). SRS light will come on for about 6 seconds then go off.
3) Disconnect shorted leads within 4 seconds after SRS light goes off. SRS light will come on again.
4) Touch(short) the leads together within 4 seconds after SRS light comes on. SRS light will go off.
5) Disconnect shorted leads within 4 seconds. SRS light will blink twice confirming that the error codes have been cleared.
6) Turn ignition off, and wait 10 seconds.
7) Start vehicle like normal. SRS light should come on for a few seconds then go out, this is normal.

If the procedure doesn't work the first time try it again, the timing has to be perfect.
If the light comes back on or still continues to stay on then you have an issue. Start by checking all SRS connectors and grounds to make sure that they're connected properly, no corrosion, etc. I forgot to reconnect a ground(behind the cup holders) one time when I had my interior stripped... took a while to figure out.

Ok I'll give it a go again, i have tried a few times as have read what you are describing during research....thing is at the end of trying and getting the 'two blinks', before i get chance to turn ignition off the light is back on solid....
Trying to figure out what the code it is throwing relates to....going to try replace the clock spring...
Thanks for your advice :nice:

My lad has an EK4, anyone know if the clock spring is the same as the EK9 so i can test the logic before purchasing one?

Thanks folks....:)

Yes both the ek4 and ek9 clock springs are interchangeable as i did replace mine with an ek4. No issues with horn working again and SRS light off.

You're welcome. It does sound like you may very well have an issue in the system. Researching online I've seen that people recommend doing a continuity test in order to check the clock spring if it's suspected. You may want to try that, if you haven't already, before actually swapping it out.
Also, do you have a factory service manual or reliable diagnostic and troubleshooting source? Here's a free download link for the USDM 1996-2000 Honda Civic Factory Service Manual:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_...jUxLTg0OWItZjc0NTY0MzZmMzMz/view?pref=2&pli=1
This should mostly pertain to the EK9 as well I'd think. The SRS troubleshooting section starts at page 1751 of the pdf. There's a bit of related information right before that too. Hopefully that can give you some further information and will let you know which diagnostic steps to take as well.

Thanks ImmortalOne....I'm not so good with all that so I will enlist my mates help...thanks for sending the manual too...
As above my lad has an EK4 so I think I'll 'test' the clock spring by borrowing my lads - do a reset and see if that works, then I'll know if that's the problem

Cheers guys :))
