Spoon Springs no lower

They are for the EK9, but you can fit them to an EK4. They'll be marginally softer on the 4 due to the increased weight.

I've had spoon springs with standard dampers fitted for two months now, the car handles great but I'm not happy with the height! It needs to be an inch lower I reckon, but £500 coilovers for one inch can wait :))

agreed, they feel great just don't look aggressive enough. i somewhere that the balance is very good at the stock height. maybe spoon didn't want to change the center of gravity much....just the roll

You're probably not far wrong there. By keeping the ride height similar to stock they don't upset things roll centers, camber curves or bump/roll steer too much. All the little details... :win:

cool.. thanks for the replies people! the spoon springs seem like a good option for what im after, and then i may add spoon dampers at a later date.

Luckly you will not be expecting it to lower your car so you can just enjoy the feel of the car and not be disappointed but the height

Interesting you run RCAs with a relatively high ride height. I was looking at doing this myself as I need new lower balljoints, seems to be a lot of people saying that it is bad unless you car is 'slammed'. So far as I can see it shouldn't matter, but I bow to people with experience in these matters so thought there might be something I hadn't considered.

Did you manage to compare the handling before and after the RCA install with the same suspension? I do still fancy a set, should be good for tight solos.

yea it's been good but i put my suspension setup in one shot so was kinda hard to tell :(

I think i realize how come my front looks so much lower with the spoon springs/shocks. I'm using a dc2 front suspension components (dc2 front subframe/front lower control arms) My front wheels actually tuck inside the fenders, however, the rear has about a 1.5" gap between tyre and fender. Reason i used the subframe is in preparation for my Kswap.

The other issue is i was using cusco's on the track before with the RCA's and it was very good. I have not tried it with the spoon "street" shocks/springs. The other problem is i don't get much track time, maybe 2-3 times a year... money and time off work :(

The RCAs themselves will lower the ride height by around 3/4" too.

Here's a pic of the car side profile when i was doing the alignment

yea i didn't realize that sits me so much lower than everyone else. Nobody locally here runs Spoon springs :(

how do you guys like it for track? i would like to try it next year and see how it is on the circuit

That sits nicely actually!

I found the Spoons adequate for track work, IMO the excellent damping does make up the slightly higher ride height and higher roll centres does go a fair way to alleviating excessive roll due to the relatively soft spring rates.

Maybe if I got into doing more trackdays or maybe circuit racing then it could do with being a bit lower and stiffer but for the occasional excursion they are certainly up to the job and won't leave you disappointed.
