spoon ecu?

im not quite up to scratch with engine management. what sort of changes would a spoon ecu make to your car, would it need mapped? any info would be helpfull.
 
im tempted by one of these as im only planning on bolt of upgrades for a fair while.

anyone got first hand experience??
i believe the vtec point is lowered and rev limit raised??? is that right??
 
im running a spoon ecu in my ek9,vtec is lowered to around 5800 and rev limit is 9250....makes a nice difference
 
errr, are you sure it is 5800rpm? Mine was 5000rpm and 9100-9200rpm. Even on SPOON brochure it says 5000-5200rpm vtec.

I've had a bad experience with this. Car doesn't move anywhere between 5000-6000rpm, massive power dip, it then starts to pull from 6000rpm
