Just wondered if anyone can help...would a Spoon Ecu taken off a JDM ITR with a obd2a loom. Fit a pre-facelift EK9? Also is there a difference between the ecu specified for the Integra as apposed to the Civic?

As I've seen a Spoon ecu for a good price!

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers, Rob

Yep it'll fit, you should buy a programmable ecu instead of that one, use the ecu that your tuner can tune.

I was wondering, what's different about the ECU? Only the software?

Wouldn't really be worth buying if it makes less power! Only asked as I saw the ecu for a cheapish price. And cheers for the info! :nice:

Wouldn't it be easy to just get that mapping out of the chip?

Yes some ppl can do it like download the mapping data and upload it onto another chip, then unsolder the stock chip, weld a chip socket onto the board and then you can interchange chips including the stock ecu.

I know some ppl in Hong kong that does this but tried contacting them for someone a while ago but they dont seem to do it anymore.

Can't they just send the software? :p

The fueling on an integra ECU will be MUCH more than for the EK9 specific ECU, the spoon ECU is really rich top end anyways, fitting a DC2 one to the B16B will do it no good at all.....

Even if they send you the software, theres no way to program it!

Thats why you get a programmable ECU so your tuner can tune it to suit your mods and make much more power than say a 'spoon ecu'

-Apexi Power FC
-hondata

these are the popular choices for hondas.

Yeah I know, but I was thinking of getting a P28 ECU, chipping it and putting an EPROM in with the Spoon software :p

sigh, if you want one real bad I can sell you my B16B ECU and i'll give you the SPOON, Js racing and Stock Chips lol

Does anyone know if the spoon ecu accounts for the ron content in the fuel you use?

Nah, it's not that I want one real bad. I don't even have an EK9 yet, but I was thinking that it might have been a cheap good option for a bit of extra power before I buy a programable ECU and have it tuned.
