spenny's b18 build up

well.. thought it was about time that i did a build up thread for the car!
ive had the car for nearly 3 years now. i didnt do much to it at first, i just left it how i bought it!

anyways.. how i picked it up!

it had 17" momo alloys wrapped in eagle f1's
jun style spoiler and front lip
lowering springs
middle spoiler
and fog lights

i kept it like this for a while until i had some money!

i then bought type R front and rear lips and grill and had them painted to red. for some reason i ended up selling the front and rear lips which i now regret!

i then bought - Square reg plates, buddyclub pro spec backbox, type r seats, sabelt harnesses and wind deflectors

i then Diy ek9'd my door cards

i was sick of the alloys which were on it so i got some 17" buddyclubs in gunmetal

i then got bored of my "miss matched" interior and splashed out on a full EK9 interior

Me and Ade fit it all in a few hours.. hes got the pics on his phone of it all!

then i bought a b18 off tom

cleaned up abit

few pics of mine and ades car

also bought a personal steering wheel

next was my breaks
went for the 282mm setup and me and tom fit it as his house

i then decided i want to change the whole look of the car as i was bored of the look

so bought a few new things.

Koni yellows with ground control sleeves
16" Enkei RP-01
Carbon fibre bonnet

i was very unsure of this look though so decided to sell the carbon bonnet on!
the wheels were not in the colour which i wanted either so i had them acid dipped and shot blasted!

primered

then i went for a copper colour but i didnt really like it when i brought it out in the sun it looked abit salmony colour!

i then found the colour which i wanted (the left hand side one)

next up i sprayed my rocker cover

then bought a few more goodies for it! including

5zigen 4-2-1 manifold
5zigen border 304 cat back
3000k hid kit
mugen front lip
"mugen" headrests
engine mount inserts

.

i decided that im going to replace all the parts and upgrade cams etc on the b18c4
thanks to tom for giving me a hand with it all
soooo i will be using

b18c4 bottom end
b16a2 head
itr valvetrain
itr cams
itr pistons
buddyclub headgasket
itr clutch
itr shift linkage
and itr flywheel
ive got all these parts now its just in the process off getting built up.

ive also replaced

p/s + alternator belt
cambelt
dizzy cap and rotor arm
thermostat
oil filter
Castrol smx gearbox oil
koyo tensioner
rocker cover gasket
engine oil
spark plugs
and piston rings

again im getting sick of the look with the car because its not now i want it!

anyways i have booked it in for a respray on the 5th of may and im getting the following done!

front and rear bumpstrips removed and smoothed
smoothed front bumper
colour coded doorhandle and side bumpstrip
middle spoiler taken off
new front lip fitted and colour coded
and rear lip sprayed and fitted.

there probs alot of stuff ive missed out! thanks for reading update coming soon!

very very nice build up guy..! i have a question: how do you cleaned up your engine..? you did a very good job..!!!

p4x - cheers i used a drill with a kind of wire brush in the end of it then blew it down with a compressor to get all the bits of dirt off then used engine enamel to get it shiny

engine build up..

the block

Removed the clutch, flywheel, crank pulley and cambelt covers

removed the rust from the waterpump

Then removed the sump, oil pickup, crank girdle and then pistons and rods. Then gave it a good blasting with the powerwash and cleaned out loads of crap and oil from the block.

more picks to come when i upload them...
ive changed the piston rings and put the pistons in..

well got the engine fully built up now and its back from its respray!

How it started, b18c4 block;

Stripped down and cleaned up;

Removed a few bits of rust;

ITR rods and pistons installed;

Crank girdle, oil pick-up and sump installed;

Gearbox fitted;

Alternator, coolant pipes and half-shaft fitted;

B16A head, skimmed, de-coked, cleaned and re-seated valves, new valve stem oil seals, Skunk2 dual valve springs and retainers fitted;

Buddyclub head gasket;

ITR cams installed;

Timing lined up and cambelt fitted;

Engine mount and covers put on;

EK9 inlet manifold and TB fitted;

EK4 engine loom, rad hoses, dizzy, p/s pump, belts and all the other little bits fitted;

Ready to be dropped in!!

had a full respray and -
front and back bumpstrips removed and smoothed over
side strip and door handle colour coded
front bumper smoothed over
middle smoiler taken off and holes welded up
rear wiper taken off and welded over
debadged
new front lip
new rear lip
and sorted abit of rust out and took the parking dings out.
also fittted my koni yellows with ground controls
