Some info needed

Hi guys, obviously im new on here :)

I currently have a 306 gti-6..

An d recently have been looking for another kind of cult, rare car, i know the ek9 is rarer than the gti-6 but still the pug isnt that common now..

So basically i know this thing runs 185 bhp std, and weighs about 50 kg over a ton yeh?

Whats it like compared to the new ctr? I am very insterested in buying an ek9 as i love the look, and am told its a brilliant car.. Just wanting some reasons why its a brilliant car to be honest..

Also the gti-6 is group 16 insurance, how does this compare?

I get about 25 mpg is this simalar to the civic?

And lastly does it have back seats?
 
hi there and welcome, ive just bought an ek9 myself and pick it up wed for same reasones really, rare cult car with awesome street cred, go drive one, they drive very nice and vtec becomes addictive! It does have back seats for 2 people, i have a xsara vts on my drive also and you wont be dissapointed with the ek9

Are your back seats recaros as well?
 
no just the standrad bench but i though there were only 2 seat belts, i wasnt to interested in the back lol
 
A stock EK9 can make 25 MPG or more, what you need is to test drive one.

The EK9 is a sports car, 1600 cc 185 hp! If you want to drive fast, and cars with good cornering speed without sacrificing economy, the ek9 can be a answer for you !
 
Yeh, its not going to be MUCH faster than my gti-6 though i wouldnt have thought, and the cornering probably will be about the same.. im just bored of the pug...

Are these hard to insure?

Cornering speed of the gti-6 can't be compared to the ek type r, when my car was stock, I was 5 seconds faster than the gti-6 in a AutoX event, both stock :D
 
i have just parted with my beloved 350 plus hp skyline for my Ek9 and to be honest, i prefer the EK9, your pug will not be a patch on the ek9, the 0-60 on the pug is around 7.6 is it not? and thats a bloody 2litre:D:D:Dplus it french LOL, drive one, they are an eye opening experience:bow:
 
oh and as for corners, my old st205 jdm celica GT4 couldnt out handle the ek:shocked::shocked:

I timed my car 0-100kilometers and it does it in 5.46 secs this was done with my mate timing me on a stop watch so maybe give or take a fraction of a second also I had wheel spin when shifting from 1st to second so maybe lost some time there
 
Thats usefull thanks, i have just seen the jdm ep3 civic :)

Is there a sensible reason not to pay another couple of k and get one of those?
 
GO with the ek9... im from the u.s. and have never driven a pug even though i want to. You can't go wrong with honda. their engineering is flwless in my opinion and im sure everyone agrees.

power to weight ratio, i drove my other sisters gti6 for about a month when my GT4 was off the road and in my opinion is was absolute cack in standard format.
 
i just copied this from parkers car guide and the figures (bar torque) are not great in comparison to the civic.

What are your current mods? Was it a straight road or a downhill? :nice:

I know the civic is quicker those figures are wrong :)

Mine clocks 60 in just under 7 secs.

And although im looking for something different, im not going to deny the gti6 is one of the best hot hatches about, as for 2k you get something that will own a lot of things around a track, and also has toys, looks good, and is quite rare.

So saying its cack is stupid as its clearly not.

And although I have been looking at ek9 a t16 gti6 has just come up for sae with 280 bhp and ten pot brakes so its now a different ball game
